DH and I and our 2 DDs have nothing planned and are seeing the family that can be arsed on Christmas Day. So what do you do?

Go and watch the local Boxing Day point to point and meet up with many friends there. Then home for a late lunch of bubble and squeak and cold meats and cheese left over from Christmas Day. Board games, TV and just relaxing. We host Christmas Day at ours and are thankful that all our family live close enough (and our house is too small) that they don't stay.

DS goes to his dad on Boxing Day so it'll just be me and my boyfriend at home. We're going to the pub and then back for a massive cheese board and associated nibbles.
It'll be a nice adult lull in the festivities!

I’m waiting to see if I get taken on permanently at work & if I do, I may be in store on Boxing Day 😞. If not, a chilled out day with maybe a walk if it’s fine

Ideserveaholiday · 07/12/2017 23:05

Open DH's birthday presents in the morning then family get together in the afternoon.

YouTheCat · 07/12/2017 23:09

Cinema to see the new Star Wars in the morning. Lots of grazing and chilling out after.

Whatever the inlaws decide I suppose as we're at their house. But they live abroad and it's a normal working day there. Annoyingly Jan sales actually don't start until January there, and we're back on 31St, but by then I'll have missed the good stuff in the sales here Angry

Off to Prague for a city break.

ballroompink · 07/12/2017 23:16

Have made no plans yet but thinking of driving to the coast for the day and going to the pub there etc. after spending Christmas Day with family.

Am surprised how few people on here are seeing relatives on Boxing Day! Sounds good to me tbh but I know so many people who end up doing 'one set of relatives on Christmas Day, the other on Boxing Day'.

ihatetosay · 07/12/2017 23:17

take tree down and go to the football Christmas is over by then

RichardRichieRichard · 07/12/2017 23:19

As little as possible 😏

thegreylady · 07/12/2017 23:20

Big family meal with my step sons and their families.

SandAndSea · 07/12/2017 23:21

A really relaxing day with a beach walk and a meal out, so no cooking.

babybythesea · 07/12/2017 23:24

Biggish family, travelling and staying over is the only way we can spend Christmas together. So we will still all be together Boxing Day.
So, dog walk on the beach. Lunch of soup and bread and cheese. Afternoon of game playing - various card games, Pictionary, Trivial Pursuit, Cluedo. As there are 14 of us people dip in and out of the games as they wish. Movies will go in for the non-game players. Supper of cold cuts, salad etc. more game playing in the evening.
Boxing Day is more fun than Christmas Day in our house - time to look at your presents properly, work out the rules of the new games, put together the kids toys, read some of your new book.....
And the games are central. We are a very competitive family and Trivial Pursuit in particular is fiercely contested each year.

Craftylittlething · 07/12/2017 23:29

Christmas jammies on, read Christmas books, long dog walk, jammies back on, Christmas chocolates, nice cheese and sappy movies. We have Boxing Day “off” then our second family day on the 27th.

FaintlyBaffled · 07/12/2017 23:30

Go to watch the (not local to us as we will be at DM's) hunt leave.
Walk dogs.
Eat.
Drink.
Play board games.
I actually prefer Boxing Day to Christmas Day if I'm honest Confused

TriJo · 08/12/2017 00:10

Munster v Leinster at Thomond Park :)

MinkowskisButterfly · 08/12/2017 00:18

Having family round for drinks and food (I always just lay out buffet style food even if it is just us). We spend Christmas day just us (kids, DH) through choice but then use boxing day to catch up/spend time with extended family.

SavageBeauty73 · 08/12/2017 00:27

Having a party at mine with my closest friends and kids. Can't wait.
