To wonder why MN is so left wing/liberal?

MN hates Brexit, the tories, pink toys, violent video games... you get the idea. But in real life most women don't mind buying gender specific toys/clothes and the election/brexit female vote was about 50/50. So what makes this place 90% lefty/lib when general society is either split or completely reversed? Confused

BertrandRussell

Are you saying that there was no Unionist violence in NI?

Nope. But that doesn't change the fact that your hero Corbyn invited the anti-Unionist leadership for tea shortly after their side committed a terrorist atrocity against the British Government. Fuck him and all those who defend him.

BertrandRussell · 10/12/2017 16:46

Corbyn is neither my hero nor my choice of Labour leader. But I do not like to see people misrepresented.

Politicians talk to unpleasant people. It's one of the things we pay them for.

shhhfastasleep · 10/12/2017 16:49

JC had no role to play in the peace process. It was just a pose. SF supported the attempted murder of a democratically elected government. How is that ever OK?
Won't vote Labour as long as he and his antisemitic anti women wunderkinder are in charge of the Party I used to vote for.

GinsAndTonic · 10/12/2017 16:51

If that dopey bastard ever gets into power, you'll see exactly who and what he sympathizes with.

makeourfuture · 10/12/2017 17:27

You feel strongly that he is a git, a poseur and a dopey bastard?

shhhfastasleep · 10/12/2017 17:28

Yes. I do feel strongly. I'm being polite about the shifty fucker.

WindyWindy · 10/12/2017 17:32

When did/does Corbyn spend time with unionists, or representatives of the Israeli government?

(To me) It beggars belief that he's seen as neutral, but we all have different opinions.

He's acted as a campaigner not a negotiator. He appears motivated to right injustices perpetrated in his eyes by the UK and "the West" in general. I admire his work for the Chagos Islanders by the way.

makeourfuture · 10/12/2017 17:34

Didn't the Queen have tea with Gerry Adams?

WindyWindy · 10/12/2017 17:34

I am being terribly polite about him too. And operating on my own ethics of fairness that I would have no expectation of the far leftists showing in return. Sad.

shhhfastasleep · 10/12/2017 17:34

Attempting to murder the democratically elected government of this country is only fighting injustice if you are a slimy bastard.
Plenty of others have stood up for Chaigos Islanders.

WindyWindy · 10/12/2017 17:35

I would probably be in agreement with you on most substantive points shhhh..

shhhfastasleep · 10/12/2017 17:37

The Queen had tea with Gerry Adams (who supported the murder of her husband's uncle) and shook McTwat's hand as part of a larger process of reconciliation which included ROI finally honouring Irish servicemen and women who fought Hitler with the British Army instead of treating them as traitors. Big picture stuff. Not shifty posing while people were still being murdered. Grow up , make.

makeourfuture · 10/12/2017 17:44

Grow up , make.

If you promise not to call me a dopey slime git.

shhhfastasleep · 10/12/2017 17:45

You have supported that shifty shit across MN. Kinder, gentler politics? My arse - he doesn't stand for that.

BertrandRussell · 10/12/2017 18:06

"To me) It beggars belief that he's seen as neutral, but we all have different opinions"

Who sees him as neutral? Hmm

WindyWindy · 10/12/2017 18:24

Well we are in agreement then, he's not a neutral.

GoingIn · 10/12/2017 18:31

I would like to see a more left wing government, I liked many of labour policies and think they would be more beneficial to this country than what the tories have done so far. Perhaps a centrist approach by tories but that would mean they would have to take a big step to the left and I don't see that happening with the current bunch. I don't think you need to be a lefty to see that change is needed.

BertrandRussell · 10/12/2017 18:49

"Well we are in agreement then, he's not a neutral."

Of course he isn't! Who said he was?

Dapplegrey · 10/12/2017 18:52

Bertrand - what are your views on Corbyn's support for the present Venezuelan regime?

GoingIn · 10/12/2017 18:54

These threads tend to become all about brexit or corbyn. What about the all the other mess we're in at the moment?

WindyWindy · 10/12/2017 18:55

If we have established he's not neutral it's then a matter of degrees of support.

BertrandRussell · 10/12/2017 18:55

Dapplegrey - what are your views on Theresa May's support for the surrender Saudi Arabian government?

Ontopofthesunset · 10/12/2017 18:57

You can be left wing without being a Jeremy Corbyn supporter, and you can be right wing without being a Jacob Rees-Mogg supporter. Who knew? People's broad political beliefs are not about being fan boys or girls.

People's individual political beliefs vary from topic to topic

GinsAndTonic · 10/12/2017 19:30

"Bertrand - what are your views on Corbyn's support for the present Venezuelan regime?"

Excellent question - here's that dumb shit Corbyn on the Venezuelan socialist president Maduro, who's been arresting his political opponents in the middle of the night and has turned Venezuela into a basket case:

www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/aug/07/no-10-reiterates-uk-condemnation-of-venezuelan-government-may

"Jeremy Corbyn has condemned the “violence done by all sides” in the Venezuela conflict but stopped short of criticising its socialist president, Nicolás Maduro."

Criticize a fellow socialist? That would never do...

GinsAndTonic · 10/12/2017 19:33

Betrand - "what are your views on Theresa May's support for the surrender Saudi Arabian government?"

Some pretty low quality whataboutery there - the last time I checked, Saudi Arabia hasn't been lauded by the right as a model for Western society the way Venezuela has been by the left.

Here's a handy article:
