To be freaked out that ex has written a book?

My ex has written a novel about relationships Confused I keep telling myself it would be stupidly self-obsessed to worry that any of it will be about me but I can't stop feeling odd.

Would you read it?

Whitney168 · 05/12/2017 16:12

Of course!

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 05/12/2017 16:12

No.

I try and keep my morbid curiosity in check and I suggest you do too, just in case you're right!

messofajess · 05/12/2017 16:13

Oh god I wouldnt be able to stop myself. How long were you together for?

splendide · 05/12/2017 16:14

I wouldn't be able to resist reading it I think

HappyVan · 05/12/2017 16:15

Oh no. I don't think I'd be able to resist reading it though. Feel for you.

StickThatInYourPipe · 05/12/2017 16:15

I would have to read it!

Nottheduchessofcambridge · 05/12/2017 16:17

Ooh I would definitely read it, what’s it called?

Migraleve · 05/12/2017 16:18

I would read it, but I know I wouldn't worry too much about his interpretation of our relationship. If that is likely to bother you I would probably not read.

DJBaggySmalls · 05/12/2017 16:20

I'd have to read it and I'd probably make notes in green ink.

CynicalOleMe · 05/12/2017 16:22

I'd totally read it, and probably piss myself laughing at the ego on him thinking he is capable of giving relationship advice.

Grin
FlaviaAlbia · 05/12/2017 16:24

I'd read it, but I'd get it from the library, I wouldn't buy it and add to the sales numbers Grin

IreneWinters · 05/12/2017 16:24

If he was a decent guy and you split on fairly good terms, I'd probably read it. On the other hand, if he was a dick who liked to fuck with your head, I'd steer well clear.

WunWun · 05/12/2017 16:25

I wouldn't read it as it would likely upset me. Ignorance is bliss.

MrsTerryPratchett · 05/12/2017 16:27

Tell us the book so we can try to work out which one you are Grin

I'd be totally paranoid. Is he an arsehole?

NachoAddict · 05/12/2017 16:27

I would read it without a doubt!

hamptonhangingpork · 05/12/2017 16:29

I wouldn't read it nor would I buy it.

I have to ask though, has it been released through a publisher or has he self-published on Amazon?

NynaevesSister · 05/12/2017 16:29

No way. Either this is more common than you'd think or I know you. Is he self publishing? Definitely read it.

QuimReaper · 05/12/2017 16:29

Cynical OP says it's a novel, not a self-help book.

I'd have to read it OP Grin Is it self-published?

Beware though, you'll probably find you see yourself all over the place in it in bits that aren't about you at all.

rachelracket · 05/12/2017 16:30

my sister who i am vlc with has written a book (and published!) about sisters. my parents said i shouldn't read it Confused

titchy · 05/12/2017 16:30

Has it actually been published?

TheEgregiousPeach · 05/12/2017 16:30

Christ, yes I'd read it. And then send it back to him with my corrections added.

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 05/12/2017 16:31

I would read it.
If your friends know about him writing a book then you’ll need to know what they might find out about you

ApplesTheHare · 05/12/2017 16:32

NynaevesSister how strange, perhaps there are lots of people worried about this very dilemma!

So I don't want to say what it's called but it's a proper big publishing house, not self published.

OP posts:
DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 05/12/2017 16:32

Leave that book (probably a very slim volume) well alone.

Nquartz · 05/12/2017 16:33

I'd have to read it, but then possibly regret it (kind of like watching a scary film that then gives me nightmares).

Agree with a PP, there probably won't be one character that is all you but lots with bits of your personality
