Exercise. You want a 500 cal slice of cake? Run 7k. There is the trade off. Want 3 glasses of wine? Run more or run a lot faster. And that won't reduce your weight but will stop the gain.

Just don't buy cake or the ingredients to bake. Can't help with wine as Im not a massive fan, perhaps switch to something lower in calories?

IllegalBlonde · 29/11/2017 21:22

Used to do 5:2 but find doing daily fasting much easier - look into doing 16/8 or 18/6. You only eat during a 6 or 8 hour window. Feel heaps better and have lost without really trying and still get to eat cake and drink wine!

gluteustothemaximus · 29/11/2017 21:26

I follow 2 diets.

One doesn't give me enough to eat Grin

missyB1 · 29/11/2017 21:32

I’ve eaten two cakes today, a Danish pastry and a mince pie, kidded myself that I was being healthy by eating a satsuma afterwards Sad

dorislessingscat · 29/11/2017 21:36

I feel your pain. Wine and cake are the two reasons I exercise. Have lost 1.5 stone through strength training with v little change to my diet.

Plus I take all my agression out on the weights.

Applesandpairsonthestairs · 29/11/2017 21:36

Oh me too OP GrinWineCake

It's a bummer that wine and cake have calories. Angry I wish lettuce was as satisfying Smile

RemainOptimistic · 29/11/2017 21:36

The solution is simple. Eat only foods you love. In this case, wine and cake. The pounds will melt away!!

Nah, what you want is to snack frequently on healthy things like bananas.

OublietteBravo · 29/11/2017 21:40

YANBU.

I love wine and cake and cheese and chocolate.

I also like fitting into my existing clothes.

Which means I have to be very disciplined about exercising. At least 30 mins (and preferably 50 mins or an hour) 5 or 6 times per week.

Tis the only way I'm afraid.

PosiePootlePerkins · 29/11/2017 21:42

NoS diet. No snacks sweets or seconds except for days beginning with S. So three plates of food in the week and treats at the weekend. I have lost 2 stone (slowly!) and am maintaining it. More importantly I have a normal relationship with food for the first time in my adult life (I am 43). Try it!

OurMiracle1106 · 29/11/2017 21:46

I gave up dieting as such and just over hauled my diet. I still have the food I love —just no longer daily and in vast quantities— I joined the gym a year ago and have managed to lose 2st 13lbs Smile and still enjoy food. I had Greggs for lunch as a treat and included an iced ring doughnut. Blush

I’m now a size 6/8 on bottom 8/10 on top. However up until recently I was going gym 6 times a week for around 2-2.5 hours a night and aim to be back to that by new year. (Recovering from surgery currently).

TriHard27 · 29/11/2017 21:47

Take up running! Then you can eat all the wine and cake you like. It's not even a trick!Grin

calamityjam · 29/11/2017 21:48

I stopped drinking. I would usually drink a couple of glasses of wine a night. I also eat off a small plate. Both really helped me to lose weight. At the beginning of 2014 I was a size 16, I now wear size 10 jeans, but they are big around the waist (primark). Although I can get away with an 8 in Next. It does work, but you do have to be disciplined.

Desmondo2016 · 29/11/2017 21:50

I have world class willpower for all food and zero willpower for wine. Having said that I have gone just over a week now without a drop and I definitely feel noticeably flat tummied and less bloated which is now motivating me to be tee total. Me being tee total will never happen long term and I predict failure before the week is out.

Harvestmoonsobig · 29/11/2017 21:53

Were it were that simple. Being miserable is the only thing that works for me. 😬

BBCK · 29/11/2017 21:54

5:2 is brilliant. 5 fags and 2 glasses of wine per day and nothing else. Works for me. Also known as the Aquitaine diet for you Francophiles.

oldlaundbooth · 29/11/2017 21:55

It's a balance, OP balance.

Are you practicing mindfulness?

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 29/11/2017 22:48

elektrawoman · 29/11/2017 22:58

I could have written this OP! I am just the same ......

Pippioddstocking · 29/11/2017 23:41

Take up long distance running and you will never need calorie count ever again .

Desmondo2016 · 30/11/2017 07:35

@pippioddstocking that is very much my approach!

BitOutOfPractice · 30/11/2017 07:37

I speak as a runner when I say "just take up long distance running" is not a very helpful comment.

Ijustlovefood · 30/11/2017 07:42

I'm doing slimming world and I'm struggling a bit because I've been just eating what I want for years (sugar mainly). I wanted to eat healthier and cut down on the sugar which I suppose I am but don't think I'll see much movement on the scales.

Thebluedog · 30/11/2017 07:45

I just like food too much in general Grin been on a diet (sw) since July and managed to lose the grand total of 5lbs. It was up to nearly a stone at one point but a few parties and that was that Grin Cake Wine
