To report this....

An acquaintance of mine (wouldn’t say friend, more a friend of a friend) is absolutely obsessed with snapchat. Ok, fine, each to their own.

BUT she constantly snaps and drives, like ALL the time. She saves the snaps and uploads them to her Instagram account. The latest was her driving along (Not at a slow speed) and looking into the camera with a silly snapchat filter on. She then writes a message on the screen and uploads it, ALL WHILE DRIVING. Or she will film the road while she’s driving and the song is playing in the background (?!)

I spoke to her about it before Blush she views me as the bore, I think.
I said I was worried she might have an accident, she just laughed it off.

I know I could just delete her and never see them again BUT she really really could cause an accident and hurt someone/herself. She has her eyes off the road for long spells of time just to keep us “entertained” she’s not funny anyway.
Oh, and she’s only just got her license back for a drink driving ban.

Sooooo... my AIBU is WIBU to report her for it? Who to? Or IABU and I should just ignore it

(I just looked at her latest snapchat story and there are five snaps of her while she’s driving) Hmm

Quite simple, it gets assigned to the correct team e.g Roads Policing and they investigate as the OP can provide them with evidence from her Instagram account.

OP please don't put off reporting this person, the police will be very interested.

CaptainBrickbeard · 29/11/2017 16:48

Those links are horrific. I think there needs to be a massive campaign about phone use while driving - it needs to be as stigmatised as drink driving has become. I would certainly report this to the police.

Mittens1969 · 29/11/2017 16:50

Ok what's 101 for then? The point is, it's a non-emergency number, as I understand it. At least there's a chance something will be done. If I did nothing and the worst happened, that would be very hard to live with.

Bubblebubblepop · 29/11/2017 16:51

That's not what happens. As evidenced by the many threads over the years by people who have been told by the police they won't action the call.

Thanks for the information and all

Mac12345 · 29/11/2017 16:56

OP, please update us once you've called and let us know what they say!

CaptainBrickbeard · 29/11/2017 16:59

I'd rather report this and be ignored than do nothing and then find out she's killed someone.

ChibiTotoro · 29/11/2017 17:00

Bubblebubblepop that is quite frankly utter tosh.

Even if they didn't have the OP's evidence any good member of staff would look to research the allegation and try and corroborate the information in some way.

Report it, either online, to 101 or if you're wary about coming forward fill out the online form on the Crimestoppers website with as much info as you can e.g. usernames, vehicle registration number etc.

Bubblebubblepop · 29/11/2017 17:01

Yes OP do let us know what happens to her

GabsAlot · 29/11/2017 18:21

bubbl my own local police tell us to report dangerous drivers to thm

shall i direct thm to this thread and your stubborn retorts of whats the point and they only do anything when they catch thm themselves?

Valerrie · 29/11/2017 18:55

Report her. I reported an acquaintance for doing the same with a glass of champagne in her hand.

They looked at the photos on Facebook and Snapchat and spoke to someone who was also in the car and she was charged.

Valerrie · 29/11/2017 18:56

Bubble, they certainly auctioned my call and investigated very thoroughly. We are rural Wales where crime is low though so they probably didn't have much else to do

Iprefercoffeetotea · 29/11/2017 19:04

Report it. I don't think the police will do anything sadly but it will be on a record. Given she has a drink driving record, they might take it more seriously.

I think there needs to be a massive campaign about phone use while driving - it needs to be as stigmatised as drink driving has become

yes absolutely I totally agree with this.
