I never knew there was a name for this till today but I was reading on another forum that specific things can trigger you into a state that can be described as ''a really strong tingling sensation along your scalp and a huge sense of euphora/happiness + numbness of your body'' . Mine were (and I'm not joking or trolling) : one of my childhood friends telling me which stamps out of my collection he had or not, my dog licking himself and more recently, haircuts.

I don't know why it's called ''orgasm'' because it's more like a drug induced, relaxing mood. I had no idea this was a thing and it had a name. There's tons of videos on YT with all sorts of ''triggers''.

I get this at the theatre and concerts (music and singing) but not just when listening to music!

I get it from someone concentrating. On me - like at the optician or the GP - or on something else. When my kids are having their feet measured for example, or weirdly I discovered when we were having building work done - someone measuring my walls etc. I was watching a physio at my son's swimming club yesterday discussing a swimmer's shoulder with the coach. The swimmer had her back to me and the coach and the physio were looking at her shoulder - not touching her, just looking - and that triggered mine.

I discovered a few weeks ago that my son gets it too. He is 7 and we found out when I was measuring his head to make him a crown out of cardboard for the school play. He calls it the shy shiver and he says he gets it when someone is doing something important.

Interestingly, he was at swimming yesterday and I pointed out the physio and asked if it gave him the shy shiver and he said no, only if they were looking at him.

Try Bob Ross, he painted on TV in America in the 70s and it is soooo relaxing to watch!

I get ASMR often but only from random triggers. I never knew it was called that until someone told me I was giving it to them once (they actually were on an E, though I wasn't). And yes to whoever said they also experience quite strong negative sensations from random things too.

I get it from harmonies in music and also if I'm doing something good for someone else that will really help them - I got it a lot when I was a bookseller and recommended something I knew someone would like, for example. I always just called it 'the shiver'. None of the ASMR videos work for me though, they're not my triggers.

Yes I get them!
When somebody does something nice for me is what triggers mine. So strange.
My whole head goes tingly Confused

I got it as a child and especially when watching Lesley Judd making things on Blue Peter - it almost sent me into a trance.

I love having a hair massage but especially if the person doing it has long nails. Bizarrely I really don't like long nails.

Wow, I never actually knew this was a thing! I think o know what you're talking about though, like a weird wave of bubbles starting in the head and going through your body? I used to get it a lot as a child but not much as a adult.

Oh and make up videos. Not the brash shouty ones but those by make up artists such as Sali Hughes. Gentle, considered, quiet. And not staged so you wouldn't have to explain what it was to anyone!
