He plead guilty to groping two women in a night club. And yet still people on social media are going on about how unfair it is on him, how the women are making a mountain out of a molehill, that he shouldn't be on the sex offenders register even though he sexually assaulted two women. Basically lots of people feeling sorry for him because Corrie sacked him etcHmm

Aibu to think that he got what he deserved?

Is fine on my phone

Karen from Glasgow and her ilk can get to fuck.

This is why men get away with assaulting women. Because even women are more than willing to excuse their behaviour as 'only a grope'. There's no 'only' when it comes to sexual assault. I don't know about anyone else but if a stranger came up to me and grabbed my breasts and genitals I would feel pretty violated. I certainly wouldn't be all "ho-hum, he's only trying his luck, bless him".

Haven't read all this thread but I'm local to him and the comments on the local news article made me want to smash my own head into a wall.

At one point there was a petition to get him his job reinstated.

Lots of
They wouldn't have reported him if he wasn't famous.
They have only reported it so they can sell their stories.
Someone who said they forgive him for what he has done to someone they don't know.
Lots of he should keep his job because 'Dev' took drugs
Lots of its not a big deal and happens to women every weekend but they don't report it Angry

Mostly by women who look 50 plus which makes me sad that's grabbing a woman's crotch, boob and bum is just one of those things.

It's like victim blaming bingo isn't it? I wonder if it's a generational thing, I'm not saying all older people will defend him, but sexual assault was pretty normalised 40/50 years ago wasn't it? A 'cheeky bum grab' was pretty accepted as normal (glad it's not now).

Maybe it's difficult for these women to face up to the fact that it happened to them too so they tell themselves (and everyone else) that it's no big deal.

The worst thing is when you try and challenge their views all you get back is a load of name calling and people laughing because apparently not wanting men to go round groping women makes you an uptight feminazi🙄

Cherry... I have the DM app purely (honestly) for comments and sidebar of shame.
I think the older generations are projecting or maybe even frustrated that it used to be brushed under the carpet. Oh I don't know maybe they're just ignorant fuckers.
I've been through the system and court for sexual offences by an ex boyfriend, these women who think it's easy to lie or embellish haven't a clue what it's like to be in that position. It's terrifying. It's surreal. Rape clinics too are traumatic places and this side of sexual assault isn't well known about. If you do decide to report it it's not as simple as just giving a statement and interview. There's the see through forensic suit, a Doctor checking and photographing your body, measuring cuts and bruising, taking swab after swab. Further photographs taken as your body heals. How you have to draw what happened and where furniture was placed. You can't have counselling until after the trial because the defense would have to have access to everything you say. Your medical reports are taken and pulled apart and become public knowledge whilst the defendants remain private. It's so much more than just giving a statement. I wish people really knew what it's like before accusing women of either lying or exaggerating or attention seeking.

It's quite interesting that Plato saw being drunk as the opposite of mitigating - he said the perpetrator should be given twice the sentence, one for committing the crime and one for being drunk and therefore forgetful of proper behaviour.
