www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/bruno-langley-sexual-assault-jail-11600807?ICID=FBmirrormain

He plead guilty to groping two women in a night club. And yet still people on social media are going on about how unfair it is on him, how the women are making a mountain out of a molehill, that he shouldn't be on the sex offenders register even though he sexually assaulted two women. Basically lots of people feeling sorry for him because Corrie sacked him etcHmm

Aibu to think that he got what he deserved?

YANBU and I am disgusted with the amount of women defending him on the MEN page on facebook. People are describing what he did as just a 'lad trying his luck.' Disgusting.

crazycatgal · 28/11/2017 19:17

What planet are these women living on.

To think Bruno Langley got what he deserved.

I only posted one link, the garbled-ness wasn't me! It's something to do with the site/app.

I've posted a thread in site stuff so can we please try and stay on topic now.Smile

Ugh, since when does 'trying your luck' involve grabbing someone's breast and crotch areas without their consent?

Some people have a warped sense of what's ok and what isn't. It's scary that people see a man grabbing a woman's boobs and genital areas as a perfectly normal thing.

Blimey I can't believe people would defend such scum bag behaviour.
Never ending attacks like this are exhausting. I don't know any woman who hasn't been through something like this and I'm glad courts are seeing is as exactly what it is - sexual assault.

PositivelyPERF · 28/11/2017 19:22

Awk, the poor pet was drunk, when he sexually assaulted the women. We all know he couldn't help it. It was the drink that made him do it. Let me tell you about all the women that go around sexually assaulting men when they're drunk. Just give me a minute. 🤔 I'm sure I can name a few.......erm. 🤔 Ok, let me tell you, as a 48yr old woman that has been incredibly drunk on many occasions not a boast, a fact I've sexually assaulted.....erm...nope. Not.a.fucking.single.man! The arsehole deserves everything he gets thrown at him.

x2boys · 28/11/2017 19:22

I can believe it crazy a similar thing happened to me once on a night out a guy I worked with followed me into the toilets and put his hand up.my skirt I diddnt report it but did tell some people at work most just laughed it off he was "A nice guy you see"Hmm

Battleax · 28/11/2017 19:23

"...this world is getting [to be] a joke. Guys will have to be careful at xmas parties this year."

Hmm

Not exactly the terrible tragedy the handmaidens seem to think it is, really.

DeleteOrDecay · 28/11/2017 19:27

It's like people think that because there are 'worse' crimes out there that this sort of thing doesn't matter.

As a woman I want and should be able to go where ever I want without some entitled prick 'trying his luck' on me. Men are not entitled to touch women just because they feel they can.

Surely that's not too much to ask???

OP posts:
EdithWeston · 28/11/2017 19:27

"Guys are going to have to be careful at Xmas parties this year"

Good.

'Trying it on' isn't ever going to be criminal, because that language refers to flirty suggestiveness with someone who you think is giving out signals. Wrong judgement on that - which would not include groping, persistence, or crudely explicit language - is something that is easily rebuffed with no harm done.

I now think he was sacked immeditatly because he must have come clean to the producers, including his intention to plead guilty. That he was prepared to do that, and take responsibility for his actions might perhaps be his saving grace and the start of a reformed future.

crazycatgal · 28/11/2017 19:28

How can we as women strive for equality when there are even women out there who think that our bodies are primarily sex objects for men.

PositivelyPERF · 28/11/2017 19:28

There were posters making excuses for an OP's partner, who photographed a woman in a bikini, including close ups of her breasts. on another thread, so this shouldn't come as a surprise. Some women set the bar incredibly low for acceptable behaviour from men. It's fucking depressing.

DeleteOrDecay · 28/11/2017 19:30

Maybe I'm cynical but I think they sacked him because he told them what happened, thinking it wouldn't be made into such a big deal and that at worst he'd get suspended.

I bet he thought what he did was perfectly normal behaviour.

OP posts:
VelvetSpoon · 28/11/2017 19:31

The issue I have is that if he was just some bloke, and not a minor celebrity, NOTHING would have happened.

If anything the women would have got kicked out of the bar for causing a scene. I know because I've been that woman.

I cant get excited about this being some victory for women, because it only happened as he's well known.

Pumperthepumper · 28/11/2017 19:31

The most infuriating thing about these people who try to defend men like this is they just can’t see how insulting it is - I honestly can’t think of a single woman I know (including myself) who hasn’t been on the receiving end of some kind of unwanted sexual behaviour.

While the scale of the current sexual harrassment scandal is fucking horrific, at least it’s being talked about properly and while I feel awful for the victims, I’m honestly hopeful that it will make men think twice before they act.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 28/11/2017 19:33

I'm very Hmm at the first thing men doing is jumping to the conclusion that they'll be accused of this that and the other on the back of things like this. Sounds to me like they're sulking at the possibility of not being able to assault women anymore

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 28/11/2017 19:33

Hi there,
We will pass this on to Tech, sorry about the confusion with the OP.

Booie09 · 28/11/2017 19:34

Maybe now Men of all ages will think twice before they think it's ok to touch a woman's private parts!!

DeleteOrDecay · 28/11/2017 19:40

Yes I agree. I mean it's not exactly hard to not assault someone.

I also think that statements like the one above about men being careful at the works Christmas party stems from the myth that women routinely lie about being assaulted. It's all a load of rubbish but that is what these people are thinking when they say stuff like that.

OP posts:
Kickassname · 28/11/2017 19:40

Silly girls. Guys really shouldn't have to 'be careful' at xmas parties...they should know that groping women's crotches and breasts is wrong.

Oh that reminds me though, I better be careful at my bro's xmas party this year in case I grab one of his colleagues' dicks.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 28/11/2017 19:43

Kickass watch out though, they might be a meninazi and get all emotional about you grabbing their dicks, they should be flattered! When I was young I used to be able to give dicks a friendly pull all the time and the younger, smaller, more vulnerable men I targeted would just laugh it off. It's political correctness gone mad!

Lweji · 28/11/2017 19:45

My only issue with this is that not enough men get punished like this.

DeleteOrDecay · 28/11/2017 19:52

Agree 100% Lweji.

OP posts:
LittleMyLikesSnuffkin · 28/11/2017 19:57

Ofc YANBU no doubt about it. But yes there will be some who think the victims “overreacted” to his creepy predatory behaviour. The types that say things like “but this has been happening for years!” Like it makes it acceptable 🙄

And yes the OP is jumbled with what seems to be a billion unclickable links. Never mind I knew what it was about anyway.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 28/11/2017 20:00

I read the comments of the DM article (yes I'm my own worst enemy) and apparently someone called Karen from Glasgow is shocked as she thought he was innocent "but that's probably because I like his character in Corrie".

People like Karen should be legally bound to to indoors
