AIBU to ask what you are buying your MIL for Christmas?

If you want to add the level of relationship you have with your MIL for context, that's great too Grin

I've asked DH what he wants to get her and he's useless (he suggested we buy her exactly what I bought her last year Hmm)

I get on really well with my OHs mother but don't have a lot of spare cash at the minute as I've just started a degree so I'm making her a gluten free Christmas cake as she has coeliac's

We just get PIL some vouchers now. Last year it was for B and Q (!) as that’s what they wanted. I used to buy them presents I thought they’d like but by the look on their faces I don’t think they did. So we asked what they wanted and vouchers it was!

Not really MIL, but if you are needing ideas, me and my boyfriend have got his parents a hamper of wine, port, chocolates, biscuits etc that we made up ourselves.

His mum told him not to get her or his dad anything this year, so dunno if they'll be pleased or not.

A mega pack of sharpie pens, she loves colouring, and it keeps her off the phone slagging me off. I am civil toward her.

Can't stand the woman so that is a job for the mr. If it was left to me she would get nothing

Some Weleda products that she always uses and can't get where she lives, a flower set in a resin block, some beeswax candles (they like them) and I will put in a little book of photos of the kids. I like my MAIL although our relationship is very formal, probably partly because we don't have the same first language.

MIL not MAIL! FFS phone, I'm a Mumsnet regular, don't act like you don't know what a MIL is Grin

Big birthday for her next year so we’re going away for that. All agreed we’d oay a bit extra for a nicer villa and use Xmas money on that instead. Have bought her an Emma Bridgewater mug as an extra - picked up in the sale after last Xmas.
