To take this parcel to the post office tomorrow?

On our road we always take parcels in for each other, obviously there are lots at this time of year.

Six days ago I signed for a parcel for one neighbour, I have been round every day, sometimes twice and they have not answered the door. Last night I saw a takeaway driver pull up and they opened the door, I raced to get my shoes on and less than two mins later was knocking on the door.

Again they didn't answer. I know they are in on loads of the times I've been over. WIBU to take the bloody thing back to the post office when I send my eBay stuff tomorrow?

Well at least you'll know in the future not to take anything in again for them OP. I will take parcels for the neighbours on the left, but not for the one on the right as she's a twisted bitch who would most likely do something like accuse me of stealing it (Not just me personally, she's fallen out with other neighbours too over nothing)

I wouldn't pay out of pocket to return the item.
Most places refund the postage if an item is returned. Seems mad for the money to come out of your pocket and then they get the refund.
I'd have told them it's going in the bin. Why should you be inconvenienced for being a nice neighbour?

I think OP means she's going to give it back to the post office to do something with it, rather than sending it back to where it came from

Is space an issue in your house? I don't understand why you're going to all this effort (multiple trips over, multiple notes, taking it to the PO) when you could just chuck it in a corner and forget about it until they knock. What is the issue?

Gosh, I've just had something similar. The thing is, we are getting to the time of year when my front room looks like an Amazon warehouse. I'm happy to take in parcels for my neighbours - it's kind and neighbourly. However, I'm not certain that I'm going to do it any more for one house (it's been made into flats and pretty much all of them are incredibly slow to pick up their parcels).

In my case, it was partly space and partly knowing that, as I had signed for the parcel, it was now my responsibility. I don't really want to be responsible for someone else's stuff, particularly if it is a giant box that I keep tripping over.
