to let you know how men use the Equality Act to undermine women's spaces

This is Liam. Liam was a 17-year-old Harry Potter fan (photo here from his Twitter).

twitter.com/iamLilyTM/status/639376063655739392

Liam doesn't appear to have too much interest in running, but nonetheless got very upset that there are women-only runs, in addition to the thousands that are open to men.

He thinks this is similar to apartheid, or Rosa Parks being told to go to the back of the bus. twitter.com/iamLilyTM/status/637324189733666816 (August 2015)

Being kept out annoys Liam. (And a lot of other MRAs alike who get REALLY angry at not being allowed to join, despite their being literally thousands of other places to run.)

But wait! An idea! If Liam says he is a girl, he will be able to go wherever he likes including all those women-only runs he was so cruelly rebuffed from.

After all, at one time the Race for Life was able to be kept relatively man-free, as Cancer Research said:

<a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20120528181520/raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/utilities/faqs/who-can-enter/index.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">web.archive.org/web/20120528181520/raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/utilities/faqs/who-can-enter/index.html

"Under the Gender Recognition Act 2004 we are happy to accept entries from individuals who possess a female birth certificate or gender recognition certificate. However, as Race for Life is a female-only event we have a promise and responsibility to our female supporters to ensure our Race for Life events are represented by women only. Therefore, if you do not have either a gender recognition certificate or a female birth certificate, we are afraid you will not be able to participate in Race for Life. "

But this didn't last long! The Equality Act 2010 came along and it said

"A person has the protected characteristic of gender reassignment if the person is proposing to undergo, is undergoing or has undergone a process [of changing gender]". So anyone who is even THINKING about changing gender is protected, and you better be careful about crossing them.

So Raceforlife quickly deleted the requirement for a GRC, and just to confirm this.

twitter.com/CharlotteMedler/status/604486954785357824

"Hey @raceforlife what is your opinion on pre-op women running? Does having a wang mean I can't do it? Let me know, pls."

The reply:
"hello, transgender women are welcome to take part in our events, so we'd love to have you :)"

Message has got through loud and clear to Liam, a few months later Liam says he is a girl called Lily (this declaration isn't really accompanied by any action, though he has had one Gender clinic appointment, where he got some handouts about hormones).

He tells his school. Some people, including his younger sister, are unhappy about his behaviour.

But not to worry, he looks up 'solicitor' on Google, and finds a firm of solicitor who represent teenage Harry Potter fans wanting access to women & girls spaces, completely for free! www.buzzfeed.com/patrickstrudwick/this-trans-teen-threatened-her-school-with-legal-action-to-w Awesome! Free lawyers!Totally no consequences!

Emboldened, he moves on, with his MRA activity, getting a woman kicked kicked out of a neighbouring constituency Labour party:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5087503/All-Labour-officials-local-committee-resign.html

Then he's elected women's officer in his own CLP.

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/trans-teenager-lily-madigan-voted-in-as-a-labour-women-s-officer-mwchkhzq8

Then people point out that he seems to own a Twitter account with blowjob, rape, Jimmy Savile & curry jokes. He says it's fake then it's pointed out it's dated 2013 so unlikely to be, and finally he blames his younger brother for the acocunt and says his family is racist, sexist and homophobic and that's why he has moved on from them.

www.kentlive.news/news/kent-news/transgender-labour-womens-officer-rochester-817234

Said brother is not impressed and calls him out publicly for throwing him under the bus

twitter.com/madigan_smurf/status/933760359810428928

Lily/Liam is a big fan of Jeremy Corbyn, who for his own part has said that, as a genuine 100% authentic transwoman, Lily/Liam can do whatever he wants. www.facebook.com/MedwayLabour/posts/1506650112756340

As if all these weren't enough, he's now being sponsored for a Women in Leadership programme in by Tris Osborne, a (male, natch) Labour candidate in Luton. twitter.com/cllrtrisosborne/status/934368405993508864

Rosa Parks eat your heart out eh? Look who's got the last laugh now! Silly women wanting a race without men in it!

Red - Lily has been supported by Momentum - see her post in August on the Momentum Medway Facebook saying that she has now been a Labour PArty member for 3 months (which I now understand meant that she was eligible to stand for office....)

www.facebook.com/groups/745543142256906/permalink/1152490868228796/

Whilst Lily Madigan is destined to be a mere footnote in the Labout Party history, the role of Momentum is much more significant

Betty185 · 26/11/2017 14:08

He literally retweeted Clitoris Osborne's endorsement of him

Does anyone know how to save these tweets in case Lily deletes them?

VerticalBlinds · 26/11/2017 14:11

This is not a party political issue.

Misogyny cuts across all groups of men - left / right / religious / athiest / rich / poor etc etc

It's depressing to see the left having zero support for or interest in women & what happens to them, but really so what is new?

Women need our own party and look we got the WEP and they proritise men over women.

Ditto the greens who believe society to be filled with "men and non men" - male as default and anyone who doesn't fit in with men is lumped in this sort of group of whatever united only by the fact they are not men - with who is a man and who is not a man defined by men, obviously. Men have defined and policed masculinity forever.

Anlaf · 26/11/2017 14:49

Lily has also "liked" Cllr osborne's earlier tweet on his application

I hope there are decent adults in lily's life who will look out for lily.

WTAFisthisshit · 26/11/2017 14:54

Anlaf I'm pretty sure Lily sued the decent adults who tried to look out for Lily Sad

cromeyellow0 · 26/11/2017 15:13

While I'm glad the Times is reporting thoroughly on this, why are they referring to Lily as female? He's the complete opposite of a serious dysphoric transexual who genuinely wants to transition to the opposite sex. The statement that he's been on the NHS waiting list for two years is a convenient excuse. (Regardless of NHS, you can buy female hormones for the princelyor perhaps princesslysum of £1 a day.) In the real world, no one will view him as a woman or treat him as a woman. Anne was absolutely correct to state the obvious. He is a blatant "transtrender".

Do we know the composition of the people who voted for him as Women's Officer--by sex and by membership of Momentum?

newtlover · 26/11/2017 15:31

I've just looked at his twitter account and he's now saying that he 'feels liberated after the reclaim the night march- so important that we have women only events'
this is just calculated provocation, very childish
he's not a woman, he's a very naughty boy

SoftDay · 26/11/2017 15:37

Absolutely, newtlover. I had a modicum of sympathy for him as, presumably, a confused, immature and troubled young man, but that particular tweet is just taunting women. He is laughing at us.

Lancelottie · 26/11/2017 15:40

I think I might have to join Titter just to post 'He's not the Missiah, he's a very naughty boy' all over it.

Lancelottie · 26/11/2017 15:41

*Twitter. But both would fit.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/11/2017 15:43

There's a bit of information about who voted for him in these tweets.

twitter.com/JasonPatrickHa1/status/934473449678016513

Replying to @paul_brassey @OwenJones84**
Lily stood on the 'Left ticket' which was organised in opposition to the so-called 'Unity Slate', which included individuals whom are opposed to Corbyn & Momentum, continually taking every opportunity to undermine the left in the CLP. We are proud Lily won on our agenda.

@paul_brassey
I think there were around 88 eligible voters in the room. @JasonPatrickHa1 says Lily won 44-27 which sounds about what I remember. Don’t know how many members in CLP I’m afraid. The gender split in the room seemed close to 50-50, although didn’t count and no idea how anyone voted

Anlaf · 26/11/2017 15:45

Indeed WTAF

Now Lily has Roz Keaveny and young Owen Jones on her side.

Times journo Luck confirms here (as part of this twitter thread) that Lily told her about her application for the jo Cox award, and that the Times became aware of application following cllr's tweets

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/11/2017 15:50

We'll, if you insist on bringing Monty Python into it, this is eerily prescient...

cromeyellow0 · 26/11/2017 15:52

Thanks Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g.

It's troubling that Lily won with a clear majority, but I guess for most it was a vote for the faction more than the person.

As with Danielle Muscado, I still can't quite believe that he is serious, I keep expecting him to reveal the whole thing as an elaborate hoax.

MistressDeeCee · 26/11/2017 15:53

Transtrender?! That's a new one on me, but fits this current nonsense oh so perfectly😁

Maryz · 26/11/2017 16:12

That Roz Kaveney tweet is extraordinary.

We are talking her about an article in a mainstream newspaper about an person who has been elected as a Women's Officer, to represent women, for a mainstream political party.

And yet she is referring to Lily as a "teenager" and saying that the journalist should have warned her she "wasn't her friend" before talking to her.

Which is Lily? A teenager unschooled in media who needs protecting? Or an adult capable of a political post? Surely she can't be both Shock

MistressDeeCee · 26/11/2017 16:13

TheNationalist the difference is - as a black woman I can't decide I'm a white male, and then go into white men's spaces and accept white male privilege on that basis.

I also can't present as a young white male and say I'm a white woman. Not even as a young black male saying I'm a woman, would I be afforded any opportunity at all. No easy trans route for me.

I assume you are a trendy anti-racist, so EARNEST about racism yet so clueless as to even compare this trans debacle to racism and how it impacts, consistently, upon those living with it.

Lily can go back to being a boy whenever she likes. & that's that. Dine. I can't change being both black, and a woman. Ever. Racism and sexism is intersectional for me.

Your comparison is ill informed at best. Don't attempt to tell me what racism is - you know nothing. Stick to the trans topic

The R word is bandied about way too much by 'right on' people who use it to deflect everything. Give me an honest anti-racist any day, over the ones who wear it like a virtue-signalling badge and want to tell black people how they must view and deal with race issues.

It's only because you mentioned race that I mentioned I am a black woman. This Lily nonsense and what it represents affects ALL women.

There is not and never will be any comparison with racism in respect of a young white man in UK presenting as and being accepted as a woman, and ushered into Parliament on that basis. So don't manufacture one

fruitlovingmonkey · 26/11/2017 16:14

he's not a woman, he's a very naughty boy
This.

noeffingidea · 26/11/2017 16:18

Brilliant post Verticalblinds. You've summed up the situation very well.

pamish · 26/11/2017 16:36

Don't forget that Liliam has expressed a wish to become an MP. There will be about forty seats declared as winnable that will be top of the all-women shortlists.

Now let me think, which group/s will be looking at those lists right now and deciding who will be entitled to those jobs?

MillicentFawcett · 26/11/2017 16:45

@Gasp0de: Those numbers aren't right. Have a look on my thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a3091663-lily-madigan-tim-elected-labour-women-s-officer#73496382 where @superlandlady posted the results of all the CLP elections on Monday 20th at 15.15. Lily won by 4 votes. Interestingly, I know see that Lily's big advocate who is supporting Lily in his application to the Jo Cox Leadership thing (if Lily is actually applying) lost the VP election by 15 votes. Well, well, well Hmm

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 26/11/2017 16:48

I've just looked at his twitter account and he's now saying that he 'feels liberated after the reclaim the night march- so important that we have women only events'

OK yeah, he is clearly just taking the piss in that case.

Important that we have woman only events, that accept that male people are women. Fuck that.
