Swollen lymph node in 2 year old

My daughter has had a swollen lymph node for 8 months, I believe it originally showed up when she was unwell and has never gone away.

Finally got the doctors to refer her to a pediatrician with an appointment in December (feel like I've been forever for this appointment) but it's been cancelled as my doctor referred her to ped surgern instead of just a Ped. I've called to sort it out but as it's Friday no one wants to sort it and have been told they will get back to me Monday.

I feel sick thinking it's something serious, has anyone else's child had a swollen lymph node (behind the ear) for ages and it been innocent?
She's fine in herself.

Yes. She is 4 1/2 now had bloods and checked twice. They are not concerned it is pea sizes hasn't grown and is movable under the skin.

I'm not sure if is grown, it moves when you touch it and is a medium between soft and hard texture to it.

It's worth checking out when it's been there over 6 months, but incredibly unusual to find anything worrying.

Common causes include recurrent viral illnesses (overwhelming majority, especially in toddlers), some particular viral illnesses (glandular fever, CMV etc), inflamed tonsils/adenoids, glue ear, eczema, nits...the scary stuff that your mind leaps to is very rare, and doesn't usually just show up like this. Yes, get the appointment sorted, but try not to lose too much sleep.

Both my kids have numerous and so do I. My son's is about grape sized and I can see it in his neck when he turns his head.
He got it scanned in the end and it wasn't even classed as swollen.
Pea sized in the neck is not classed as swollen; it's normal to be able to feel some lymph nodes

You are right to get it checked. It is overwhelmingly likely to be nothing serious but it shouldn’t be overlooked.
Is it mobile? - Can you blip/ wobble it from side to side? If it is mobile it may be more of a concern. It was in my case, aged 12. I recovered and I am now 47.

Sorry don't want to terrify you but has she been inoculated again TB? I am not medically trained at all.

A little child I know had a swollen lymph node that got bigger and bigger when he got a virus. Something wasn't draining right. He had to have a couple of operations to sort it out and now you wouldn't know different. I'll try to find the name of the condition.

Hers is bigger than a pea but you probably wouldn't notice it unless you felt it or I told you

Sorry I’ve just seen that it is mobile. Mine was in my neck though, not behind the ear.

I should say it was large egg sized and noticeably visible though.

I myself had a swollen gland for a good few years. Came up after a bout of shingles and then just wouldn't go away. I had ongoing problems with my glands as a child as well, wasn't ever anything serious

Light drizzle - anyother symptoms?
Randomer - she is up to date with all her immunisations

A doctor told me that loads of the population have them and in almost all cases they are absolutely nothing to worry about. Always best to get them checked of course.

Light drizzle (and op and anyone who might now be freaked out) a mobile node is usually a GOOD sign.

Dd2 had one come up at about the age. She is 8 now and it's still there. Very visible.

She saw the pead and they put it down as a shotty gland. As everyone says fairy common.

Is your dd skinny? Mine is very skinny and the dr says it's just a bit more visible on her.

She's not very skinny, but more on the slim side than the cubby one. You wouldn't notice it unless I pointed it out but the worry is killing me, 31 weeks pregnant, can't take my anxiety meds! Just dread the thought of something terrible happening xx
