Swollen lymph node in 2 year old

My daughter has had a swollen lymph node for 8 months, I believe it originally showed up when she was unwell and has never gone away.

Finally got the doctors to refer her to a pediatrician with an appointment in December (feel like I've been forever for this appointment) but it's been cancelled as my doctor referred her to ped surgern instead of just a Ped. I've called to sort it out but as it's Friday no one wants to sort it and have been told they will get back to me Monday.

I feel sick thinking it's something serious, has anyone else's child had a swollen lymph node (behind the ear) for ages and it been innocent?
She's fine in herself.

Thanks

Not a child but my DH. He was terrified because his brother died of lymphoma. It turned out to be toxoplasmosis. Most people wouldn't even notice they had it, if not pregnant, his immune system must have been very low at the time.

There are so many non-sinister reasons, don't worry.

No other symptoms at all. With hindsight, my mother and I recalled her saying my neck looked a bit swollen generally a few weeks prior. This went away but at some point I noticed a mobile lump on the lower left side of my neck. Wasn’t a bit worried, it was painless and I was well. I was referred to a surgeon who excised it. It turned out I had papillary thyroid cancer, that had spread to the lymph nodes in my neck. This is luckily a wimpy, lightweight kind of cancer and that is treated with surgery and radioactive iodine therapy (I didn’t have the latter but should have done, - I was treated in a local hospital by a general surgeon throughout rather than by a thyroid cancer clinic) Despite rather backward treatment which resulted in a few subsequent lymphectomies, I made a full recovery with no legacy but a few neck scars and needing to take Levithyroxine for life.
It’s unlikely your daughter has the same thing, but such things shouldn’t be ignored.

Asumpasty - Sorry didn’t mean to be alarmist, I’m certainly no expert, all those years ago both my GP and then the general surgeon seemed more concerned that it was painless and mobile, but perhaps that was because I didn’t have any other symptoms or recent possible causes, rather than it being mobile in isolation.

Feeling more positive now, thank you.

My Husband said he's 100% sure it hasn't grown. So that's good l
