John Dowd seems to contradict himself in the explanation he gave to @axios about the Trump tweet.

First he says he drafted the tweet, in which Trump says he fired Flynn because he lied to the FBI.

Then he says that Trump didn’t know at the time that Flynn had lied to the FBI.

Never, never give up hope Nyx. He seems untouchable. But, remember, it took much much longer to unseat Nixon. His impeachment proceedings didn’t even conclude - he resigned, but it he he was POTUS with a dark cloud over him for quite some time. In comparison, this is going at lightning speed. Trump may get a second year as POTUS, but that will be as far as it goes. He has damaged so much, at so many levels: his own party, government relations, international relations, the budget, healthcare, the military, people themselves (women/men, white/black, heterosexual/homosexual, rich/poor, legal/illegal, Muslim/Christian). It cannot continue and the GOP know it.

The FBI is in “tatters”? No. The only thing in tatters is the President’s respect for the rule of law. The dedicated men and women of the FBI deserve better.

Listening to @GrahamBlog on @FaceTheNation reinforces my sense that the Trump administration is seriously contemplating a preventive attack on NK. Too many observers discount this prospect by making the error of confusing what they see as desirable w what is increasingly possible

Of course, the most elemental division I didn’t list is that of left/right. And all these are viewed through the lens of the media Trump either discounts as ‘fake’ or ‘dishonest’, or constantly retweets and plugs: thus creating his own speaker without seeming to do so. Remember when he said he would stop WH pressers? He actually has, really. There’s no actual information in those.

When I typed that list, I realised how smart the divisive tactics has been. Nearly every person has been targeted in some way. But it isn’t Trump who is doing it, or who planned it - it comes back to Bannon. Bannon is still there.

And Rees-Mogg met Bannon in London last week. Worrying.
