This is what might impede the resistance’s efforts. Yes, authoritarian regimes produce pushback but it can take decades for the regimes to fall (Zimbabwe, Russia, North Korea etc). And if they’ve successfully divorced people from reality enough that they don’t trust empirical facts, and that population is growing, it makes it a lot easier to subjugate them and feed them bullshit to keep them compliant. Chris Suprun, is the name of the Republican whom Malcolm Nance is talking about. Looking at the website for Suprun's Congressional bid, I can't see the word "Democratic" anywhere, although it's smothered in blue.

I'm not familiar with US electioneering, so don't know how to read this. But yeah, overall he doesn't look like the most... reliable candidate.

Just seen that Yasher Ali tweet above. Between stuff like that and all the craven, partisan amendments to the tax bill on Friday, you get a thoroughly dispiriting view of how corrupt US politics has become - and Trump’s coterie are swampier than most. So much for “drain that swamp!”

I’m not naive, but it doesn’t feel like UK politics has descended as far, but it may just be that we aren’t looking hard enough.

It’s all so depressing.
