To think the police should do more to catch M25 animal killer.

I'm sure everyone has heard about the 'M25 Cat Killer'.

Well having killed multiple cats and foxes this sicko has now started decapitating rabbits in my local area too. One has been confirmed as an M25 victim and the second is to be confirmed but is highly likely.

According to local reports this sicko is now responsible for over 350 cat deaths and over 40 fox deaths. www.hertsad.co.uk/news/brutal-rabbit-decapitation-latest-in-m25-animal-killer-spate-of-attacks-1-5282093

So AIBU to think the police should do more?

Surely it's just a matter of time before this psycho progresses onto killing people.

I can't believe there is no evidence to link someone (or some group) to all these killings.

*they can’t release much due to

Yes there is. The police are checking the animals to confirm if it is the person named the M25 killer. They wouldn’t waste resources on performing animal autopsies if they didn’t think there was a person behind it who needed to be caught.

You send your pet out into the big bad world to be a nuisance and you're surprised that exasperated gardeners and cat-haters wreak their revenge? And that is quite apart from the other dangers the animals are exposed to. Hold yourself responsible for any harm your cat comes to.

Wow, just wow. So because someone finds animals annoying it's ok to kill, maim and leave their decapitated bodies for the people who love them to find?!

FYI it's not just cats, it's foxes and now rabbits too. But I guess they could also be described as annoying and therefore killing those is also justified revenge in your mind hey.

I heard the the rabbits were found decapitaed in the garden

Maybe there is more than one person but until last year not much information was given out and the attacks follow a very specific pattern

When the spokesman from SNARL was on the radio last year many listeners called up telling what happens to their cat and they never reported it as they didn’t think the police would or could do anythiny but now it is in the news people will come forward

It’s very disturbing that he often leaves the dead cat for the owners to find on their doorstep

I have a cat and don’t let him out late at night now but agree the incidents with rabbits is more disturbing as it’s more intrusive

itusedtobeverydifferent · 19/11/2017 11:35

It’s awful. There was an expert on LBC last week saying it’s very likely the killer will turn his/her efforts to people.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 19/11/2017 11:36

charlestonchaplin

You obviously haven’t read anything about these cat killings as there is a very disturbing psychological element of his attack on people

Squeegle · 19/11/2017 11:41

charleston don’t be so silly, I let all members of my family out in the world, are you blaming me if anything happens to them?

melonsandbananas · 19/11/2017 11:46

But leaving the rabbit for 2 days unattended. Absolutely fine.

Look I like animals. I couldn't harm one but it's the hypocrisy I can't stand. The only good thing is that this story tend to make better, more attentive owners. When it circulates, people start to care a bit more what their pets are up to and while doing that they notice that its too cold outside, that they forgot to feed it, that it's always pooing next door etc.

DJBaggySmalls · 19/11/2017 11:55

You are being massively unreasonable, keep your pets indoors at night. Be a responsible owner.
The police are doing everything they can. They know the risk of escalating and what that means.

And stop conflating people who object to a quarter of a million songbirds slaughtered every year with sadists who kill animals.

Ssdw · 19/11/2017 11:57

So you dont know how much the police have already done and you dont have suggestions on what else could be done but you moan about them not doing enough..
It is all well and good to say that more money and manpower should be directed at the catkillers ( i dont think it is one person) but just where exactly should those resources and manpower come from?
I have relatives who work for the police. I can't tell you how much they love it when clueless members make such comments

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 19/11/2017 12:04

Maybe all the hunt psychos saboteurs could turn their attention to catching him, they're a feisty bunch!

1moreRep · 19/11/2017 12:21

how and when and with what resources?

the police have been subject to crippling cuts - who will investigate if there is a national shortage of detectives, who will arrest the killer when response officers have been cut to breaking point and where will the killer be lodged with a higher number of station closures.

then there’s your forensics- where does that money come from?

police officers are being forced to work rest days, havent had a pay rise in years and are leaving in large numbers.

why is your initial though to criticise the police who are at breaking point? maybe if they received better funding they would be able to cope?

charlestonchaplin · 19/11/2017 12:26

Cats are domesticated. They are pets. They aren't wild animals. Their needs can be adequately met by allowing them to roam around a reasonably-sized family garden and restricting them to that garden. Of course most cat owners don't bother. They're too stingy and ultimately they don't really care enough to protect their beloved cats from malicious harm, bully cats, foxes and cars. If one cat dies you can always get another, right?

PurpleMinionMummy · 19/11/2017 12:29

How creepy that the cats are returned to doorsteps. The killer must be watching to know which house they live at

ILoveMyMonkey · 19/11/2017 12:35

maybe if they received better funding they would be able to cope?

You're absolutely right they do need, and deserve, more funding and resources. That is the governments fault. But I guess, they are the frontline therefore they are the ones 'responsible' a bit like when you call customer services - the person on the end of the phone always gets the blame even if it's not directly their fault.

charlestonchaplin you are just being antagonistic! Of course cat owners care and don't just 'replace' their pet. Even if cats do roam it doesn't mean they deserve to be tortured for some sickos pleasure. If you can't be bothered to discuss the real issue then why not start your own thread about how shit cat owners are!

OP posts:
charlestonchaplin · 19/11/2017 12:43

Keep your cats in then you don't need to worry about the cat killer.

ILoveMyMonkey · 19/11/2017 12:46

Keep your cats in then you don't need to worry about the cat killer.

Let's apply that to that to all victims shall we, been raped - should've stayed indoors, been attacked - should've stayed indoors, been murdered - should've stayed indoors.

My cat is in from dusk until dawn. He goes out for 15 mins or so at a time but is never further than a few metres from my house. He won't even wee outside, he comes back in to use his tray!
But this person is likely to do something to humans. What if someone spots him or gets in his way or he decides it's time to start on women?

melonsandbananas · 19/11/2017 12:53

How creepy that the cats are returned to doorsteps. The killer must be watching to know which house they live at

Isn't it more likely a neighbour has run it over and doesn't want to admit to it.

SoupDragon · 19/11/2017 12:55

Isn't it more likely a neighbour has run it over and doesn't want to admit to it.

Given the injuries to the animals, no it isn't. They are clearly deliberate.

Squeegle · 19/11/2017 12:58

I don’t think so melons, this person kills the cats and puts them outside their home, usually under the window of the main bedroom. It seems a very well established way of working. It is something that is very sinister.

1moreRep · 19/11/2017 13:02

i understand you feel the police are responsible but they did not create the killer- the responsible people for that is the whole of society- parenting, social services, schooling, peers, mental health funding etc etc the police are tasked to investigate it so if you are complaining about the quality of the investigation we’d need specifics but the fact the killer hasn’t been caught doesn’t always reflect on the quality of the investigation.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 19/11/2017 13:03

Melons, have you actually bothered to read anything about the UK Cat Killer? I’m presuming not going by your posts.

As for charlstonchaplin, words fail me. What a vile attitude. Animals have been taken from enclosed gardens but clearly you also haven’t bothered to read anything about this.

ILoveMyMonkey · 19/11/2017 13:32

the fact the killer hasn’t been caught doesn’t always reflect on the quality of the investigation

You're right and I totally agree.

Iwbu with my wording laying fault with the police. Maybe I should have actually said AIBU to think someone must know something which would help in catching the cat killer.

OP posts:
zwellers · 19/11/2017 13:33

I think there might be an element of copycating involved in some of the killings although I understand there is some sort of distinctive feature?. Do we know if that's the case on the recent rabbits. As for the foxes how on earth is the person getting close enough I know you get the odd v tame fox but not that many or are they trapped first
