I'm sure everyone has heard about the 'M25 Cat Killer'.

Well having killed multiple cats and foxes this sicko has now started decapitating rabbits in my local area too. One has been confirmed as an M25 victim and the second is to be confirmed but is highly likely.

Surely it's just a matter of time before this psycho progresses onto killing people.

It is utterly horrendous and sickening..I've shed so many tears over this.. my friend's cat escaped the killer thankfully in Croydon and came back injured but recovered.. one of the rare 'happy' stories if can call it that

As for foxes, where I live some people do hand feed them.. and they are not urban foxes either, we are v much out in the sticks. I see them most nights and they don't run off

I think there might be an element of copycating involved in some of the killings although I understand there is some sort of distinctive feature?. Do we know if that's the case on the recent rabbits. As for the foxes how on earth is the person getting close enough I know you get the odd v tame fox but not that many or are they trapped first

i understand you feel the police are responsible but they did not create the killer- the responsible people for that is the whole of society- parenting, social services, schooling, peers, mental health funding etc etc the police are tasked to investigate it so if you are complaining about the quality of the investigation we’d need specifics but the fact the killer hasn’t been caught doesn’t always reflect on the quality of the investigation.

I don’t think so melons, this person kills the cats and puts them outside their home, usually under the window of the main bedroom. It seems a very well established way of working. It is something that is very sinister.

My cat is in from dusk until dawn. He goes out for 15 mins or so at a time but is never further than a few metres from my house. He won't even wee outside, he comes back in to use his tray!
But this person is likely to do something to humans. What if someone spots him or gets in his way or he decides it's time to start on women?

You're absolutely right they do need, and deserve, more funding and resources. That is the governments fault. But I guess, they are the frontline therefore they are the ones 'responsible' a bit like when you call customer services - the person on the end of the phone always gets the blame even if it's not directly their fault.

charlestonchaplin you are just being antagonistic! Of course cat owners care and don't just 'replace' their pet. Even if cats do roam it doesn't mean they deserve to be tortured for some sickos pleasure. Cats are domesticated. They are pets. They aren't wild animals. Their needs can be adequately met by allowing them to roam around a reasonably-sized family garden and restricting them to that garden. Of course most cat owners don't bother. They're too stingy and ultimately they don't really care enough to protect their beloved cats from malicious harm, bully cats, foxes and cars. If one cat dies you can always get another, right?

how and when and with what resources?

the police have been subject to crippling cuts - who will investigate if there is a national shortage of detectives, who will arrest the killer when response officers have been cut to breaking point and where will the killer be lodged with a higher number of station closures.

then there’s your forensics- where does that money come from?

police officers are being forced to work rest days, havent had a pay rise in years and are leaving in large numbers.

why is your initial though to criticise the police who are at breaking point? maybe if they received better funding they would be able to cope?

Look I like animals. I couldn't harm one but it's the hypocrisy I can't stand. The only good thing is that this story tend to make better, more attentive owners. When it circulates, people start to care a bit more what their pets are up to and while doing that they notice that its too cold outside, that they forgot to feed it, that it's always pooing next door etc.
