WWYD? Neighbours throwing food at windows

TheWildOnes · 19/11/2017 07:53

Last night next door thought it would be funny to chuck food at our windows (bananas and tomatoes).
This happened a few times and once we realised what it was DH opened the back door and shouted "what the fuck are you doing" we could hear them laughing and running in each time. Our kids had just gone to bed and we're frightened by all the noise.
We called non emergency police and logged it.
The woman involved is lodging with the owner who doesn't appear to be there atm.
I'm so pissed off as it was mine and DH anniversary and we had just got back from a meal so night was ruined, my kids were scared, I've got to now scraped banana off all our back windows and door and pick up the tomatoes.
I want to scoop it all up and tip it back into there garden but realise this would probably be stupid.
Just for info we have never had any dealing with this woman, never even spoken, she is just another in a long line of dodgy characters that lodge with the owner for a few month's at a time. The only problems we have had are they hammer and drill a lot late at night up to around midnight. Ive had enough.
WWYD in this situation?
Thanks

Have you got any way of contacting the owner?
If you google your local council + antisocial behaviour or + neighbour disputes, there should be stuff there about how to log anti-social behaviour/nuisance/harrassment.

dudsville · 19/11/2017 07:59

Oh that's so awful. I really don't know what I would do. I'd be shocked and upset but arise from contacting the police what else can you do. I'd be afraid to confront that kind of behaviour because I'd presume that people who behaved like that were beyond reasoning with.

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 19/11/2017 08:00

I'd make thick sticky porridge and cover their car and house. Honey added at the end.

I'm a cunt though

TotemIcePole · 19/11/2017 08:01

Who is hammering and drilling at midnight? The owners? Or this woman?

TheWildOnes · 19/11/2017 08:03

Thanks for reply, The neighbour is usually there involved in all the noise, We don't speak to her as she attacked a previous tenant of hers and she is unpredictable, they often have the police there for disputes between her and her tenants or lodgers.
In a normal situation I would definitely speak to the owner but in this situation don't think it would help as like I say she is usually involved, normally only noise though.
It's ridiculous, the owner must be late 50s/60s and the lodger I would say 40s, so not young kids, there were a few late teens there last night but it was the actually lodger who I saw running into the house.

Sorry lots of replies when I was typing. The hammering/drilling happens when either of them are there, no noise at all in the day apart from loud voices/shouting but starts about 8pm (just as we put kids to bed).
The noise hadn't happened for a while but has started again for the last couple of weeks.

Did the police give you any advice?

TheWildOnes · 19/11/2017 08:09

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone I wish I was that brave.
Ive been so anxious I barely slept last night and when I did I was dreaming that they set fire to our car (I do suffer from huge anxiety issues though so realise that this is ridiculous).
Thanks for replies so far, gonna get dressed and go scrub it soon, have taken pictures though as the police said they would call and visit tomorrow to discuss it so will show them.

That midnight noise sounds intentional.

Are they trying to tell you they think you/your children are noisy? In the mornings?

Im not saying you are noisy at all. I really feel for you. I have had noise issues with a few neighbours in the past. Its bloody awful Flowers

I hope she moves out soon.

TheWildOnes · 19/11/2017 08:11

NameChangeTempIssue police said they would come round tomorrow to discuss, obviously I realise they have real crimes to deal with. As they haven't caused any damage apart from a mess there's not really anything they can do.

Itchytights · 19/11/2017 08:14

Oh dear. This sounds horrendous.

What a vile neighbour.

Personally, I would be looking to move but that's me.

Good luck.

TheWildOnes · 19/11/2017 08:15

TotemIcePole My kids probably get noisy during the day but they are not up early making noise, they are 2, 10 and 14, I actually think next door are normally up before us and we make no noise after 8pm as we all go to bed as DH works unsociable hours as he has to be up really early sometimes and I have ME/Fibromyalgia so am in bed a lot.

I would get the bloody hosepipe out

TotemIcePole · 19/11/2017 08:32

You might have to declare any neighbour disputes with the solicitor when moving, I think.

Im not 100% on that. I would move though, I couldnt bear it.

I feel sorry for you and whoever moves in, when you move.

What do the neighbours on the other side think?

StickThatInYourPipe · 19/11/2017 08:35

OP are you renting or do you own?

GrumpyOldBag · 19/11/2017 08:43

Surely what they did is criminal damage? Police will be able to advise.

thecatsabsentcojones · 19/11/2017 08:51

Yes you do have to legally declare any neighbour dispute if you move, so think hard about going the official route if you're desperate to get out of there. Suck it up - difficult though it is - and shove the For Sale board up.

You have my sympathy by the way, they sound like utter arseholes, and it does leave you fearful.

wanderlust99 · 19/11/2017 08:54

We had this OP, it escalated and the police gave us an incident number that we used to log every time this happened. Take photos, log with 101 and hopefully she will get moved on.

TheWildOnes · 19/11/2017 08:58

The neighbours the other side are elderly and in their 80s, they are fed up of it too.
To the poster who asked we own our house and so want to move but need more of a deposit saved before we can do that as we ideally need to move to a slightly bigger house and nearer to DHs work to save on his hour commute anyway (We are currently in a 3 bed and we have 3 DCs)
Thanks all for replies, now cleaning it up.

I added a pic to last post but I can't see it.

StickThatInYourPipe · 19/11/2017 09:01

TheWildOnes I asked about owning, just on the slight hope you would have a landlord to complain to.

It sounds such a shit situation OP I think I would want to move but would be in the same situation as you in terms of having to save first.

Good luck OP I hope the police put a shock into them Cake

HerOtherHalf · 19/11/2017 09:05

I would get the bloody hosepipe out

Aye, the lead-filled one.

TheWildOnes · 19/11/2017 09:09

The police were next door just a few days ago, I assume from the shouting they had an argument and the owner was trying to kick her out and she was gone for a couple of days but appears to have been let back.
