So after yet another disappointing experience with everyone's favourite delivery company I'm vowing never to use them again.... but are there any company's that DONT use Hermes/myheremes at all?

OP posts:
HRpodperson · 18/11/2017 12:10

They are the worst. Nearly impossible to find a company who doesn’t use them nowadays :(

Duckwich · 18/11/2017 13:02

Use Parcel2Go. They compare all the different companies, I use them a lot and they are very reasonable. Another similar one is called Parcel Monkey, but I've never used that.

Duckwich · 18/11/2017 13:04

Oh shit, sorry, misread OP. Thought you were looking for recommendations.

Drogonssmile · 18/11/2017 13:07

They annoyed me this week by delivering a parcel of mine to the same number house one street away. I only knew because they emailed me saying my parcel had been signed for. Odd I thought as I was in Morrisons at the time. I emailed them to ask what was going on and they admitted it had been delivered to the other address by mistake. No apology, nothing. Luckily the lady at that houses was very understanding but still.........I left a few scathing remarks on their feedback email they sent afterwards.

Drogonssmile · 18/11/2017 13:08

Sorry missed point! Parcel2Go very good. They delivered an eBay parcel of mine to the USA for me very reasonably and in great time.

Drogonssmile · 18/11/2017 13:08

ffs double missed point; I’ll get my coat

IslingtonLou · 18/11/2017 13:15

Almost everywhere uses them to some degree as they’re cheap so doubt you’ll find many retailers that avoid them. Most retailers state their couriers on their delivery information & usually the faster delivery options avoid Hermes so you might be able to avoid them that way?

Hermes is awful though - the amount of parcels that have been lost or ruined this year is a joke. I have always been refunded or sent a replacement, but tbh I’m sick of checking Hermes tracking for an update, waiting 21 days and generally wasting my time for something ordered weeks agoHmm

DamnItall · 18/11/2017 13:15

I think it very much depends on your local person who does the delivery.

My local person is great.
Parcels always on time; left ones always in a sensible place (not a bin etc) with clear note.

And when I was pretty much immobile a year ago she would wait till I zimmer framed it to the door, some days (when DP was away with work) she would be the only person I would talk to. Which as I understand most likely cost her money.

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 18/11/2017 13:23

Hermes delivered a parcel the other day. The courier stuffed it through my letter box, ripping the outer packaging completely so that the three jumpers inside spilled out onto my door mat. The packaging of one jumper was damaged and it was only luck that meant the jumper itself wasn't damaged.

Absolutely useless.

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 18/11/2017 13:24

I now ask one company to send my order by Royal Mail, which they seem happy to do.

EdmundCleverClogs · 18/11/2017 14:38

Use Parcel2Go. They compare all the different companies, I use them a lot and they are very reasonable.

Sorry to cut across, but I’m waiting on a parcel delivered by this company, and I’m genuinely worried about it turning up at all. The reviews all over Google suggests they are the absolute worst. More to the point, they often delegate to Hermes and don’t actually tell you that your package is with them. Their website is one of the worst I’ve seen, especially the tracking app that doesn’t even update. I’m really hoping that my very expensive/needed item arrives as it should tomorrow...

Splinterz · 18/11/2017 14:39

I've ever had an issue with Hermes. Always been punctual and reliable.

TammySwansonTwo · 18/11/2017 14:41

Unless things have changed, P2G aren't a delivery company - you go there to compare and book services. This can cause issues if you have a problem.

kali110 · 18/11/2017 14:51

Yep i avoid any company that only use them.
I won't use newlook home delivery ( even some of their own staff won't!) as its Hermes.
Thankfully zoolpus now give you a choice of hermes or upd so i can get petfood delivered every month.
They threw things over my fence repeatedly ( even after promising 2 days previously not too) put things in my garbage bin, didn't even bother ringing my doorbell, just lied and said i wasn't in ( even when i waited in all day) put things under my mat, said my item was in my bin ( it wasn't), gave me smashed up parcels of completely broken makeup palettes, put things in neighbours open porch doors half way down the road in full view of people passing and best one was leaving a parcel on my drive.
They're crap.
The sooner companies stop using them the better.
No point complaining to them either as they don't care, they tell you to take it up with who you purchased your parcel from Hmm

HaHaHmm · 18/11/2017 14:54

I quite often choose the ‘click and collect’ option if I’m buying from a company who use Hermes (Boden, White Company etc). Our local dry cleaners is a Hermes parcel shop.

TacoFlavouredKisses · 18/11/2017 14:55

My New Look stuff that arrived the other day was DPD and Zooplus have always been Yodel or DPD for me?

We're pretty lucky to have reliable Hermes deliverers in our area - I agree with Damnit, it's a bit luck of the draw as to whether you have a good 'un or a slacker.

IslingtonLou · 18/11/2017 15:00

It does depend on your area, the parcel size, the delivery speed etc so retailers may change couriers last minute or use different ones across the nation

I never had a problem with Hermes until this year when loads of my returns got lost and parcels arrived damaged. One of my Missguided next day delivery orders got lost, tracking weirdly showed ‘refused by customer’ on original delivery date? Misguided asked me if I wanted the parcel to be delivered or returned, I said delivered and lo and behold the parcel was never located and considered lostHmm

confusedlittleone · 18/11/2017 15:20

I normally use asos and next- and they seem to alternate between dbp and hermes, i always use next day delivery as well

OP posts:
kali110 · 18/11/2017 15:22

TacoFlavouredKisses
Anywhere i've lived its one courier for next day delivery, but normal delivery is hermes.
Maybe certain areas have different couriers, ive never had an option!

confusedlittleone · 18/11/2017 16:55

Well I've just found out our Hermes person sends their children to make the deliveries on weekends and in holidays while they sit in the car.... the explains a lot tbh

They are a comparison site. I tend to pick the UPS or FedEx options, but they are a comparison site that get good deals, they aren't a delivery company themselves.

Pouncival · 18/11/2017 18:42

parcel2go are not a comparison site (or they never used to be)

I used them once years ago and they didn't even pick my parcel up! I ended up having to get my credit card company to deal with them to get my money back as they kept saying "our computer says it's been picked up". I had to send my credit card company dated and timed photos to show that the parcel was still in my lounge. Absolutely dreadful company.

Pouncival · 18/11/2017 18:43

oh and I loathe Hermes too

PoisonousSmurf · 18/11/2017 18:45

Hermes have always been OK. Depends on the area as their deliveries are late (by lorry), then of course they are late out to clients. Some customers claim to not have received parcels when they have.
Hermes need better customers!

PoisonousSmurf · 18/11/2017 18:47

And they only get 49p per parcel and a minimum of 200+ to deliver. All without holidays. Some haven't had one for years.
