So after yet another disappointing experience with everyone's favourite delivery company I'm vowing never to use them again.... but are there any company's that DONT use Hermes/myheremes at all?

I'm wondering if we're talking about a different company. I've used them for years and always been a comparison site. This is the one I use www.parcel2go.com/ You put in your details and are given different options/prices and companies, you choose one.

My Hermes man is fab.
If we are not on, he hides the packages in the greenhouse and leaves a note - often with little asides, last one read ' parcel in greenhouse, the chickens are looking good - save me some eggs!'
If I am in, he happily carries parcels into the house for me and has never ever left them anywhere daft.
I think it all depends on your area. We are rural, maybe the pressure is not so great.

My Hermes delivery person is great, but Yodel? I once followed a van that was driving with the back doors open and a load of parcels fell out as we went round a corner. I stopped and picked them up (drove over a few but they were undamaged) and followed him to give them back. Both guys were horrified when they noticed the doors were open and were gobsmacked when I turned up with the parcels. I've never seen a pair look so relieved!

I just got a quote for a 10kg parcel, 30x40x50cms

35 different options, next day to 3 days, £6-£30, lots of different companies.

Had to check because I was confused with the posts. Definitely a comparison site

confusedlittleone · 18/11/2017 18:59

@PoisonousSmurf i couldn't care less about late delivery- but I do care about them putting my parcel somewhere/to a neighbour and leaving no note, or hanging a delivery on our door handle when it's 5 steps off the footpath on an incredibly busy street- we've had 3 deliveries stolen this way... and there's a shed they can clearly see (and been asked
To use on many occasions) but won't use

yes they are a comparison website but you still book through them

this is from their own site Unlike most comparison sites, Parcel2Go are here to help after the order has been booked. When you place your order, your contract and payment is with Parcel2Go and our customer services team is available until 11 p.m. every day to resolve any issues you may have. This means that instead of having to use multiple processes, you can take advantage of using Parcel2Go for everything from collection through to tracking your delivery; regardless of the service you use

I have no idea which courier I used but it was through parcel2go and their customer service was diabolical

Duckwich · 18/11/2017 19:19

I've never used their customer services, never needed to, so I don't know and can't comment on it.
I regularly send parcels from the UK to European city (3-4 times a month). They've always been picked up promptly and if picked up on the Thursday or Friday have been delivered on the Tuesday or Wednesday.
But as I say, I always pick the UPS or FedEx option.

Stormybubbles · 18/11/2017 19:30

I 'missed' a Hermes delivery today whilst never leaving my house, I doubt they even came down my road. Especially frustrating as it was an Amazon delivery with guaranteed delivery today and now they won't try again until Monday when (surprise surprise) I will miss it as I will be at work.

kali110 · 18/11/2017 19:56

Hermes have always been OK. Depends on the area as their deliveries are late (by lorry), then of course they are late out to clients. Some customers claim to not have received parcels when they have.
Hermes need better customers!

We used them for a year.
One time they shoved a note through the door and threw the parcel over the fence and claimed i wasn't in. ( id been waiting from 7am following the tracker).
My mother has also tried ( as they are the only option) and they repeatedly threw the things over the wall damaging things in her garden.
She has now given up
Ordering from her favourite company.
Two Completely different areas.
I accidently used them months ago ( not realising the seller sent them by hermes) and my parcel arrived so damaged the palette inside was destroyed.
They need better staff.

kali110 · 18/11/2017 19:59

As for customers 'claiming' not to have received the items, i had several items that had apparently been when they hadn't so don't assume people are lying.

simbobs · 18/11/2017 20:07

We tried them as a courier service for our business but they "lost" 2 out of 18 parcels so I had to send again by Royal Mail. I did claim compensation, though it didn't cover all my costs, and you cannot claim on the damage to your reputation as a seller. Now I just pay more an use Royal Mail.

I agree. The Hermes courier here is lovely, but I can't risk using them to send my parcels. As their system is fully tracked it seemed that the losses were happening in the depots rather than when in the hands of the delivery person.
