To think I should get some free coffee from this coffee chain?!

I went to a popular coffee chain today in my lunch break for a quiet coffee and a few minutes to myself (and to read Mumsnet on my phone!). I got my coffee, sat down and tried to pull my chair forward, but the chair had a slightly loose leg and it pinched my finger hard between the leg and the base of the chair. It really hurt! Then it started bleeding and I had to go and get a plaster from the server at the till.

They got me the plaster and took the chair away, but I have to say they weren't particularly apologetic (in fact I don't remember them apologising at all), nor did they check that I was OK. It still hurt over an hour later and made driving back to work quite tricky.

So, AIBU to think I deserve a voucher for some free coffee from the chain for my trouble?! And if so how is best to go about asking for it?

Please note I'm not angry, am not going to sue them, I'm not a hysterical angry customer and I know it was just an accident. I just think, given that it was entirely their fault, they should at least give me a couple of free drinks to make up for it!

What does MN think?

Ugh, you want a tenners worth of free coffee for hurting your finger. Ffs. Really embarrassingly grabby.

I recently hurt my finger in a hotel. The door handle thing snapped back and it was actually so bad I needed stitches and pretty much selerated the pad from the bone. It never occurred to me ti a ask them for a tenner to ease my suffering.

Maybe you could start a crowd funding page to help you get over it?

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 16/11/2017 19:46

Slogan t-shirts and banners might be the way forward "Justice for the wounded pinkie" Wink

She was bleeding ffs

I got a paper cut at work today. Should I ask for an extra hours pay, perhaps? I was bleeding, ffs Hmm

Snowflake Britain at its very worst Biscuit

Sayyouwill · 16/11/2017 22:04

You must be a shite driver if having a plaster on your finger made it difficult...

Poor poor grabby OP

Urubu · 16/11/2017 22:07

Oh come on, I was given two free coffees when my order was lost at Starbucks, they have vouchers handy for this kind of situation, OP yes they could have given you something.

PodgeBod · 16/11/2017 22:13

They should have at least offered a cake to keep your strength up Wink
Seriously though, it would take 30 seconds for the manager to ask if you were ok. That’s just customer service.

Bluntness100 · 16/11/2017 22:17

Wanting the manager to ask if youre ok is a very different thing to asking them for a tenner which is what rhe op is posting about wanting to do.

Bonez · 16/11/2017 22:27

If I were to hurt myself in a coffee shop the last thing I'd want is a fuss from strangers just because they work there. Clean it in the loos, ask for a plaster, finish your drink and leave!

BakedBeans47 · 16/11/2017 22:41

Tweet them and they might send you a voucher, Costa sent me one once when they gave me a coffee that was manky and I didn’t taste it til I was on the train so couldn’t go back and Greggs once sent me a £5 gift card after I bought a roll that had tasted of bleach Confused

Some of the replies are a bit OTT!

That's not even remotely relevant to the OP.

In your case, the products they sold you were wrong, so they gave you vouchers to replace said products.

In the OPs case, the product they sold her was fine; a little cut didn't impact it at all. Hence no need for compensation of any sort.
