FFS.

She's crawling round the floor, exploring. I turned my back for TWO SECONDS. When I turned round again, she was sitting very still, and there was something in her hand. I only hoovered an hour ago, while she was napping, so I was rather Hmm about this, as I didn't think she could have anything. However, I approached her to check, and said "show me" and she held out her fist. Spider. Only an itty-bitty one (money spider I think).

I HATE spiders with a passion. So, shuddering slightly, I reached for her hand, at which point she shoved it, and Mr Spider, into her gob.

Please can someone give my head a wobble and tell me that A) Mr Spider is not poisonous, and B) She does not require medical attention.

She's 1.

It'll wriggle and jiggle and tickle inside her Grin

It's fine. Think.of it as another source of protein.

Or alternatively gather to swallow a bird to catch it.

Sorry.... I'll get my coat Grin

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 16/11/2017 14:33

Get her not gather

Rebeccaslicker · 16/11/2017 14:33

Bit of protein, OP, she'll be fine.

I can see why you're posting though, it's just not what you expect! I know everything goes in their mouths but then you realise it means... everything.

Pickleypickles · 16/11/2017 14:33

Ive been terrified of this happening since dd started crawling!
I had convinced myself it didnt really happen and she was safe until now Sad
Im sure she will be fine though, extra protein! Grin

Caenea · 16/11/2017 14:35

I can't bring myself to feel sympathy for the spider. Nothing needs more than six legs IMHO.

At least it wasn't the socking great house spider that's currently skulking behind the TV. I say socking great... It's about the size of a penny.

No birds around here unfortunately - there's too many cats in this neighbourhood Grin

Here you go - a rundown on britain's spiders and it says the money spider is not at all poisonous! www.google.co.uk/amp/www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/10-common-spiders-found-around-4200933.amp

The giant house spider one nearly made me pee myself in fear though. I hate spiders. I hate them so so much!

Shoxfordian · 16/11/2017 14:37

Wouldn't it be good if she ate the big one as well? Could be helpful if you hate spiders Grin

SacharissaCrisplock · 16/11/2017 14:38

Maybe she swallowed a fly earlier on and she’s just swallowed the spider to catch the fly.

(I don’t know why she swallowed a fly..)

Caenea · 16/11/2017 14:39

I love it, extra protein.

She does put all things in the gob - I used to hoover once a week. I hoover EVERY DAY now, and she will find the teensiest missed crumb to lick.

She seems happy enough though, she's in her playpen now and slowly throwing out all her blocks one by one.

Quartz2208 · 16/11/2017 14:40

She will be fine

Caenea · 16/11/2017 14:41

Shox Good idea. If it wasn't behind the telly with all the wires, I'd probably unleash her.

I might have to pop next door and borrow one of the cats to catch the behind the TV one.

That article is discusses venomous, not poisonous spiders. Big difference!

She's quite happily eating cheese now, so I'm assuming it was just a hint that she was a bit peckish.

Fucking songs stuck in my head now Angry

AnUtter that is horrifying and a bit vom-inducing.

Ahhh, I've got all of this to come. What a joy.

Eeeeow, you mean there's 2 categories of vile toxic spider?

I was so much happier not knowing that :(

CreativeMumma · 16/11/2017 14:54

Apparently I ate a beetle at a similar age and it didn’t effect me. It was a story I retold as a child (to show off!)

DJBaggySmalls · 16/11/2017 14:55

Keep an eye on the cat but otherwise she should be ok.

StarkintheSouth · 16/11/2017 14:56

Mine ate a dead fly when she was about 7months. She was fine but I can still ‘see’ that fly disappearing between her lips too quickly for me to fish it out... yuck!

pollyhampton · 16/11/2017 14:56

Yep, mine ate a woodlouse and some ants when he was about 18 months. I was newly pregnant with dc2 and I have never felt so sick in my life, DS was absolutely fine!

reallyanotherone · 16/11/2017 14:57

If you bite it, and you die, it’s poisonous.

If it bites you, and you die, it’s venomous.

I don’t think there are any poisonous spiders. Your stomach acid will destroy anything long before it gets near you bloodstream.

DragonBone · 16/11/2017 14:57

My DD age 2 at the time ate a garden snail 🐌
Stuck her thumb in the shell made it all gooey and ate it 🙊
