To never buy broccoli again after reading Ocado reviews?

I feel sick. Was just looking for best broccoli on Ocado and wondered why they are all low rated in the reviews. Most of the comments say the broccoli is full of worms and slugs!!!!!!! 🤢Can this be true? Have I been merrily eating worms all this time? I don't think I'll ever buy broccoli again. Grossed out.

MIL told me about washing blackberries in salt water. It really surprised me because in general she doesn’t wash fruit or veg.

I used to sit on a garage roof eating them straight off the bush. Never gave a thought to what wee beasties I was eating along with them 😁 I was only 11 at the time though.

It's why you always wash your veg again.
Its not just broccoli.

It’s a good sign. No self-respecting bug would snack on greenery that wasn’t quality. If it’s good enough for the slimeys, it’s good enough for you and me.

I am a paranoid broccoli inspector! It started when I found hundreds of baby slugs in Lidi broccoli. I’d rather not knowing eat them. I also slice the broccoli too so you can check for creatures, as well as soaking in salt water - yep paranoid!.
I have shopped with ocado for years and buy broccoli every week and haven’t yet found any additional passengers. I do read reviews where I notice a high number of low star rated reviews to save me wasting my money.
Gutted Jesus has never delivered my shopping.

This is a complete load of rubbish. When I was a child my mother NEVER shopped for vegetables - my father grew them ALL in our garden. We never had a problem with 'protein' as many here have put it. If this was the case you would have the same problem with cauliflower. was this mentioned? As for not knowing where your food comes from - the answer is quite obvious - get out in the garden and grow your own.

Oh and the time my dad was washing up and was soooo pleased to find a lone new potato in the pan.
Went to scoff it and realised it was a boiled snail.Grin
As well as my mum lovingly scrubbing a stone for dinner before twigging.

Hilarious that someone is freaked out by bugs on vegetables. Shows how far removed from nature most people are.

I'd much rather my veg had some life on it - a good sign that it hasn't been drowned in insecticide

I bit into a Tesco raspberry once and there was a dead bluebottle in it which I bit in half!

I had some from my local greengrocer years ago that was absolutely packed with catapillars. I didn't notice till they rose up in the boiling water. I had PND at the time and it tipped me over the edge. BlushSad

It was only a couple of batches though. Conditions were probably really tough for the growers wherever that year.
