I'm 17 stone a bit overweight. I have lots of excuses reasons. If I do ten minutes exercise twice a day then how long will it take me to see a difference?

Check out intermittent fasting - the 5:2 diet is a great place to start, alongside starting to introduce exercise.

Also I highly recommend Couch 2 5k app for beginners.

re exercise TAKE IT SLOW. There is no rush.

Hi @ferriswheel, good on you.
I'll second HIIT, which is designed around short bursts of intensive exercise for greater impact. I use a great website called Fitness Blender; loads of free, engaging HIIT workout videos from ten minutes upwards, and many include strength training too which is great for weight loss. You could easily start with 10-15 min HIIT workouts and work your way up. I try to do 30-40 mins 3/4 times a week and it's really helped my weight, fitness and stamina. You can also purchase 4-8wk programmes if you've got the time & energy to commit and there's also healthy eating advice (goes without saying that is v important too).
If I'm having a crap day I just make sure I have a good brisk walk. The main thing is to keep active and build it up - you'll probably get to the point where you want to do more. Best of luck to you, and onwards and upwards from your divorce x

I've gone from 17 stone to 14 stone this year. Not a skinny Minnie by any means, but it's an ongoing process and feels pretty sustainable.

Basically I've done calorie counting through the Lose It app paired with DDP Yoga. It's a kind of yoga that encourages high heart rate and fat burning, but is suited for everyone - I started with the 'beginner' level, but they have a scheme called 'Chair Warrior' for people with low mobility right through to Advanced and it's all geared up to modifying movements to make sure you don't do yourself damage.

I can't recommend it enough. The DDP Yoga Now app is available now on iOS and Android and there's a code for a free month (I pay £6 a month or so - the exchange rate of $8.99 a month nowadays). It's amazing and my flexibility and muscles are developing nicely without me doing myself any damage!

I'm slowly getting there. I find the best way for me is to not have sugary drinks, to dance whenever I can. To not snack (puddings with meals once or twice a week). Veggie meals twice a week. Fish twice a week. Half the plate with veg and 5 different colours of food every meal. Oh and one raw ingredient in every meal.
