AIBU to let my OH know I have fallen in love?

Should I tell him or maybe he knows. We have been together 21 years.
Life has never been better. He is no longer that slightly irresponsible fun loving guy I once knew.
He is a mature, caring, amazing partner and father.
Maybe I'll just keep the whole thing to myself.

I don't want him to feel too flattered.

That’s lovely. Just give him hints!!

Hermagsjesty · 12/11/2017 09:29

That’s so lovely

MinervaSaidThar · 12/11/2017 09:35

Aw! Tell him.

IHeartDodo · 12/11/2017 09:41

I didn't read the last line and thought you meant with someone else! Was wondering about the other comments!

LostInShoebiz · 12/11/2017 09:42

I know this is light-hearted but if you were to say something it would have to be very carefully worded. My partner is a bit of a gloomy goose and would fixate on why I'd spent two decades with him without being in love with him.

sashimiyummies · 12/11/2017 09:45

This is so sweet. Xx

sauceyorange · 12/11/2017 09:45

Gloomy Goose is a great phrase

I think it’s a lovely sentiment OP. What with DC, jobs, money, families, life etc it’s hard even to notice how we feel about partners. If you get the chance to actually tell them, you should! I have moments of appreciation but usually when I’m on the train or something and I forget by the time I get home...

Branleuse · 12/11/2017 09:47

This just made me well up a bit

nursy1 · 12/11/2017 09:54

I’m with you OP. Long term relationships. You fall in and out of love in cycles I think.
I feel the same after retiring. Went out for late curry last night. Feeling fragile and poorly, sipping the tea he brought me and feeling lucky.

nursy1 · 12/11/2017 09:54

Tell him. I’m goig to tell my OH

bridgetreilly · 12/11/2017 09:56

Yay! Tell him you love him more than ever, or something.

Nanna50 · 12/11/2017 10:00

Ha ha Lostin mine would be the same. I also agree with nursy the love for my OH has been very wide ranging in its intensity and depth over the last 20 odd years.

MsHarry · 12/11/2017 10:01

So you didn't love him before? Of course you should tell him but don't word it like that, tell him you love him more than you ever did and why.

MsHarry · 12/11/2017 10:05

saucy I know what you mean, I sometimes get a lovely warm feeling thinking about my DH and how he still does sit for me. I just send a nice text and he loves that.

I love my DH more deeply now after 21 years married and 23 together. Still fancy the pants off him. I appreciate how lucky I am when I read some very sad situations on MN.

BabyDreams2018 · 12/11/2017 10:28

It's nice to see a positive post about someone's OH. There are so many teats out there. Tell him 😍

StrangeLookingParasite · 12/11/2017 10:35

How fucking twee.

Do you feeling better, spraying your misery all over everything? Miserable git.

ShoesHaveSouls · 12/11/2017 10:48

I do periodically get this about my DH. I don't put it into words - but usually give him a massive hug that is so unexpected he says "what's up with you?" Grin

carb0nated · 12/11/2017 10:53

Have you not loved him for the past 21 years?

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/11/2017 10:57

That’s lovely. I feel the same way about my dh.

PovertyPain · 12/11/2017 11:02

And here come the misery spreaders. 🙄

That's lovely OP.
