To ask what your hobbies are?!

The only hobby I've ever had were my horses when I was a young girl.

Fast forward to now, I'm 23 and have no hobbies! What are yours?

OP posts:
rabbitwoman · 12/11/2017 08:22

Kickboxing! Always wanted to be a super tough ninja, but only had the nerve to take up martial arts five years ago, my main ambition is to get my black belt.

My other goal is to do a marathon. Not even run all of it, just to manage one without stopping. I am completely rubbish at running but love going out for miles and miles plugged into radio 4 - I can manage 15 miles at the moment, in about five hours!

StupidSlimyGit · 12/11/2017 08:29

Sewing (clothes, bags, toys, blankets etc), crochet, cross stitch, drawing, photography, baking, and I'm currently trying to teach myself needle felting when my daughters napping.

Biggreygoose · 12/11/2017 08:30

Shooting.

MrsExpo · 12/11/2017 08:32

OP ..... why give up on horses? I’ve had a life long addiction to them which goes on to this day (in 63 now). So my hobbies are my beloved pony, but also photography which I do take very seriously. I also knit and sew as the mood takes me.

tireddotcom72 · 12/11/2017 08:34

Amateur dramatics
Sewing
Cake making
Reading
Pilates

Also spend most of my time cleaning, cooking, washing and ironing but they don’t count do they?

Nice being the mum of a teen as I now have time to do all of the above

topcat2014 · 12/11/2017 08:36

Inspired by MN, I have returned to Church Bell Ringing after a gap of 17 years, and this time taken DD(11)

Cakesprinkles · 12/11/2017 08:37

I have no demarcation between my day job and my hobby. (Musical theatre). I basically spend all my working day doing rehearsals and then all my spare time doing rehearsals too. But I LOVE it. when I’m at home I just lie on the sofa in a coma watching telly and messing about on mumsnet! My DH has loads of hobbies, he’s lucky to find so many things interesting.

topcat2014 · 12/11/2017 08:37

@rabbitwoman going out for miles and miles is not rubbish!

I have done two 'halfs' but cannot ever seem me wanting to do a whole one!

iLoveSundaysMe · 12/11/2017 08:51

This thread makes me realise how boring I am.

I have NO proper hobbies - I do Pilates once or twice a week for toning and walk the dog every day because it’s a necessity for the dog. I Mumsnet a bit.

I rarely watch tv and I cannot concentrate on a book.

I spend all my ‘free time’ (not at work or sorting kids and they are very low maintenance) cleaning/sorting or just being lazy - I like nothing more than sitting and doing nothing, cuddling with my dog or just staring into space!!!!

I need a rocket up my bottom. Or do I need to just be ok with being lazy?

Jasminedes · 12/11/2017 09:07

Gradually finding my way with what I like to do again.

Turns out its garden/growing related, some knitting, some reading, spin biking but that is more for fitness than choice.

13Crows · 12/11/2017 09:13

Tatting, as in tatted lace. Reading books mainly on paganism, witchcraft, tarot, lenormand. Walking. Used to love gardening but the house we rent now has just grass, no plants or hedges. Hate the place so not prepared to spend ridiculous amounts of money in it. Riding my pashley bike. Watching scary films.

n0ne · 12/11/2017 09:51

Singing in a covers band. We don't perform (apart from at my wedding Grin) but it's fun just playing together and hanging out.

thewooster · 12/11/2017 10:08

Knitting - I design my own knitting patterns and I just love creating new items.

Writing - I've written 5 novels, but none published. I tried a few years back but kept getting rejected so kinda gave up, but every so often I go back and start writing again. Once I'm retired, I'd like to make more time for my writing.

CatTheMouse · 12/11/2017 10:18

I would love to have hobbies. You're all encouraging me to try new things!

SirWibbles209 · 12/11/2017 10:26

I'm 23 and my hobbies are serial killers, true crime, houses/property, the paranormal (I don't believe in it, I think of myself as an open minded skeptic 😂) and unsolved mysteries ! I also enjoy a lot of gin and clubbing every other weekend and festivals. I'm kind of a weirdo Grin

SirWibbles209 · 12/11/2017 10:27

Should probably have a hobby that's fitness related, but I prefer researching unsolved mysteries #priorites

mirime · 12/11/2017 10:36

Tarot, mainly collecting though especially since having DS.

Jewellery making - micro-macrame, wire wrapping, kumihimo.

Writing, not so much since having DS, but currently attempting NaNoWriMo, and next year I'm going to attempt to write a haiku a day as a sort of diary.

Design stuff - I'm learning to use a vector art program and have designed a few logos for work, Mother's Day cards, and so on. Currently making posters of DS favourite Lego characters to put on his bedroom wall.

Reading.

Photography, again, not so much since having DS (unless you count endless photos of him!)

I like walking and started a bit of cycling this year. Also I used to do cross-stitch and would like to start that again as I have unfinished projects.

VioletCharlotte · 12/11/2017 10:47

Yoga, Pilates, swimming, reading and dog walking.

I've got an urge to do something creative and would love to learn to crochet.

EmilyChambers79 · 12/11/2017 10:59

Crochet, knitting, reading, baking, gym and gin!

And I've just booked sewing lessons for the new year.

sooperdooper · 12/11/2017 11:01

I knit & crochet, read, I've just finished a patchwork quilt and about to start another

And I'm on the committee of a local WI group, which is great fun & I've made a lot of new friends though it

Babieseverywhere · 12/11/2017 11:08

I am learning French alongside my oldest daughter to encourage her. Using Duolingo and Quizlet.

I am teaching myself to play a piano via books and the Simply Piano App. I absolutely love it and am so terrible at it at the moment...but we have headphones so no one else has to suffer.

I am trying to make wine from a kit and another batch from fruit juices. Wish me luck. I hope they will be drinkable by Christmas.

I also enjoy reading and listening to book tapes.

When I have time I tat or crochet things or make beaded things or make cards but I seldom get to this subsection of hobbies.

I have so many things I would love to do time permitting. I need more time !

pandarific · 12/11/2017 11:12

Writing and reading fanfiction.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 12/11/2017 11:15

I read on my commute. Otherwise nothing. I used to do loads of amateur dramatics but with a toddler, baby on the way, job... it just doesn’t work anymore. I really miss it.

I’m amazed that no one asked about the allegedly ‘outing’ hobby...!

WetsTheVet · 12/11/2017 11:24

I do eventing with several horses, hunt, shoot, and triathlons.

feral · 12/11/2017 11:47

Walking
Running ( this is new and may fall off the list)
Reading / audiobooks for car
Creative writing
Knitting and crochet (when motivation strikes)
