Type this into your browser:

192.168.1.254/

Then you can log into your hub, go to 'Advanced settings" and make all sorts of changes like blocking the wifi on individual devices at certain times or completely. While you still enjoy full wifi access

You are very welcome Grin

Was lurking on thread just out of interest, but ooh - that could be very useful! Thanks, BitOutOfPractice!

DancingLedge · 08/11/2017 10:17

Well possibly I win the thread, or some sort of desperate parenting award. Not only done everything mentioned here, but also, turned all electric off at main switch, in order to get their undivided attention. Also locked every single bit of a teens footwear in the car.I said he wasn't going out on a school night. He didn't.
Fun times.

I'm a tech dunce, but it's possible to set up an administrator for the WiFi, who can then allocate times that particular devices can be connected.Cutting it out at bedtime, say. Or homework time.Less useful now they've got phones, I know.

@DancingLedge if you have a BT hub just click my link two posts up from yours...

GinisLife · 08/11/2017 10:30

I locked his computer, phone, 5 Sky remotes, 3 TV remotes, iPad, Kindle in the boot of my car. He was very calm about it and I just know he was thinking "I know where the spare car key is. She won't think of that". Hah I was one step ahead. He was very quiet when I got back 😂😂

SheSparkles · 08/11/2017 10:33

I’ve not had to do this (yet), but I would and he knows it.....if it’s the phone usage you have an issue with, don’t take away the phone, but take away the CHARGER. Absolute fucking genius!

DancingLedge · 08/11/2017 10:35

BitOutOfPractice thank you.
I saw your v useful post after typing mine.
Great, because the techie teen who set this up for me is now away on his techie uni course, so useful to have the knowledge myself.

I unplug the router and bury at the bottom of the washing basket.

She'll only find it if she's voluntarily doing a load of washing. That hasn't happened yet, so I'm safe.

BitOutOfPractice THANK YOU.X.X.X.

Mind, ex did this once and ds response was as Jins describes.

ds was on the official Microsoft development board (aged 11, he lied about age) so I am struggling to catch up, tech wise.
His Head Teacher asks him to help. They just got a new set of laptops, and an outside contractor came in to set them up. Ds found 17 loopholes in the system within 2 hours... being ASD he immediately told the Head and offered to fix it, which they were grateful to him for doing.
Physical removal prob best

Re 'unrestricted access to internet' Yy - not good.
But he only ever looks up String theory, developments in Gravity research or Quantum physics anyway. His 'hobby' is Minecraft still.
