That’s it really. Pissed off with the 3 weeks of fireworks that have been going on around me. Ask 100 people who bought fireworks what they were celebrating, you would be lucky to get one who had the correct answer

They have been thrown around on the street for weeks on my estate, some muppet threw one at a bunch of kids trick or treating.

Julie8008 · 05/11/2017 19:24

Aeroplanes kill people, they should be banned.
Autoerotic asphyxiation kills people, it should be banned.
Shopping on Black Friday kills people, shopping should be banned.
Falling out of bed kills people, beds should be banned.
Bathtubs kill people, baths should be banned.
Hot Dogs kill people, Hot Dogs should be banned.
Dogs kill people, dogs should be banned.
Vending machines kill people, they should be banned.
Roller Coasters kill people, they should be banned.
FUN KILLS, FUN should be banned.

PiffleandWiffle · 05/11/2017 19:29

Personally I'd rather the Government banned the sale of Acids and other caustics to the general public before worrying about banning something that has been a tradition for years on the basis that it annoys some people...

Skyechasemarshalsfanmum · 05/11/2017 19:39

In the last two nights arranged public dislays have went wrong. Tonights noone was injured at but last nights 14 were hurt.

ChristinaParsons · 05/11/2017 19:40

Oh please forgive my ignorance. Of course Diwali conincides with the 5th of November 😒

OP posts:
MongerTruffle · 05/11/2017 19:49

Or drink driving, or just general drunken stupidity. Yet we don't ban those.

Unless the law has changed overnight, they're definitely illegal.

orenisthenewblack · 05/11/2017 19:53

The sooner the better imo

Sallystyle · 05/11/2017 19:53

YANBU

I love fireworks, but they should only be sold to be used in organised displays. Not any random person who feels like letting some off.

RavenWings · 05/11/2017 19:55

Unless the law has changed overnight, they're definitely illegal

Yeah, you've missed my point - I was talking about the alcohol and cigarettes. We legalise those on the understanding that people don't stub out cigs on others, or drive drunk - and yet they do.

In the same way, fireworks aren't sold expressly to be put through letterboxes etc, but you get a percentage of gobshites who do it.

lovemylover · 05/11/2017 20:03

Sick of fireworks here too, poor dog has been barking and shaking ,everytime a banger or rocket went off
Also heard about another cat with fireworks tied to it,
All fireworks should be at supervised displays only
Not sold to general public,
My cats are indoor anyway, but I would definitely keep them in when fireworks are going off

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 05/11/2017 20:04

You're not "joyless" or any of the stupid things people have said, OP. You have a brain and aren't selfish.

Ban the fuckers.

ForalltheSaints · 05/11/2017 20:07

A firework sale ban is not going to happen whilst the government needs the support of the DUP.

I'd like to see organised displays only, not only for safety but because you would know when they are going to take place and could keep pets indoors then.

user1471439727 · 05/11/2017 20:16

Surely if you've seen one firework you've seen them all...

There are plenty of organised displays you can attend to have fun.

You're definitely not joyless OP, I totally agree with you.

IFellDownAHole · 05/11/2017 20:20

My neighbours and I just had a fab fireworks display. I’d be really sad if they were banned because some people are numpties.

MadeinBelfast · 05/11/2017 20:22

@ForalltheSaints, what do you mean about the DUP? NI has quite strict laws about fireworks, you need a licence to purchase and use certain types.

Chattymummyhere · 05/11/2017 20:25

Well we need to ban dogs then as they chase sheep and then they abort.

Ban cats they kill mice, rats, birds.

Ban cars and motor bikes as they kill people.

Ban stairs as people fall down them, and baths and pools as people drown.

Ban everything because it might upset a few people or a few people might be silly with them.

Christ life if for living it’s not like they go off every night of the year it’s a few weeks. Same as bbq season just a few weeks with our crap weather.

More people die from stairs every year than fireworks. More people go blind Due to attacks than due to fireworks.

KenAdams · 05/11/2017 20:34

Diwali does involve fireworks and is in October so yes very close to the 5th. What's your issue with that?

ProfessorCat · 05/11/2017 20:35

Have you got something against Diwali, OP?

TheFairyCaravan · 05/11/2017 20:37

I agree OP.

A few years ago we had fireworks thrown at our bedroom window and front door, on Hallowe'en, when I was in bed recovering from spinal surgery. The police dismissed it as a prank. Angry.

These poor people have had their house almost destroyed by a firework last night.

Creambun2 · 05/11/2017 20:41

You sound like a puritan. Want to nan christmas next hey?

Kaykee · 05/11/2017 20:42

Agreed op. We went tonight to an organised display. Never buy fireworks or sparklers - hate sparklers. But my poor cats have been really frightened the past few days. The dog is fine but my ginger boy has disappeared after sneaking out late last night when I let the dog out - dog can open back door to get back in. Our neighbours were lettting fireworks off yesterday evening and was so loud I could hardly hear the tv or kids which is ridiculous in a built up area.

Not bloody joyless or miserable just believe that for comfort of people and animals they should be let of at organised displays only. Ours tonight was fantastic. No need for a few crappy ones in the garden.

PantPlot · 05/11/2017 20:46

Diwali was about a fortnight ago wasn't it, so within the 3 week period the OP mentioned

BurnTheBlackSuit · 05/11/2017 20:46

November 5th- celebration of the foiling of a huge terrorist attack, surely?

I always wonder what people mean by an "organised display". Displays in gardens are often "organised". I think maybe you have to have a licence to buy fireworks would be a better law (to start with) where everyone is able to take a test (like the driving theory test?) and get a fireworks licence if they want.

3out · 05/11/2017 21:02

I like that idea BurnTheBlack.

Our local ‘organised event’ went rather awry when the bonfire went a bit crazy. The organisers (who were firefighters) had used petrol to light it.

Believeitornot · 05/11/2017 21:05

Because your toys are fucking explosives, that's why
