To think that crisps have gone downhill?

I bought a pack of salt and vinegar discos today and my mouth is completely intact. No burns. No tongue peeling off. None of that.

They've been neutered Angry And it's not even just Discos! McCoys have gone right down as well. Crisp companies need to up the flavour a bit, none of these would make a good crisp butty anymore.

Can we count scampi fries as “crisps”? They don’t have seemed to have changed in flavour I am pleased to report...

Still. A very odd yet delicious taste... Grin

This is really very worrying news about S&V Discos Shock

Agree with PP who recommended Golden Wonder S&V, they will make your mouth sting, in a good way.

M&S cheddar & pickled onion are quite tangy, as is their Worcestershire Sauce flavour. But still not on a S&V scale Wink

Tayto always taste stale to me. But agree that the co-op Chardonnay ones are the business.

I’d like to mention the Walkers ‘choose me or lose me campaign. It pits pairs of flavours against each other. But it’s things like Cheese and Onion vs Marmalade and Haddock. What was the point?

And I'm sure cheesy puff style Crisps like wotsits used to be cheesier too. Loved thingies in 5p bags, don't forget my thingies mum! on the packet.

You only have to look at smarties ,to see how mad the world has gone..when I was a child they were bright clolours ,I rember being in brownies playing games to win some...now , shite colours ,shite taste...just as well I'm vegan ...manufacturers don't need to try to make things healthier,we know crisps / chocolate isn't good,it's not an apple.but even bad foods are okay in moderation

I had some too many Tyrell's sea salt and cider vinegar crisps last night and they were unexpectedly powerful. The roof of my mouth feels tender today.

The only ones I eat are McCoys. Particularly the beef ones, cheese & onion and S&V, but I also like the ready salted ironically which are also far stronger than others. Not keen on the other flavours, but at least they're strong and you know you're eating them!

I've stopped buying Walkers etc as they're just so dull.

I'm glad it's not just me. I've thought crisps have gone downhill of late I must admit. All of them.

In the West Country we have Burts Crisps. Started a few years ago and are so brilliant have knocked Walkers out of most pubs and are in major supermarkets. Thick crispy and full of flavour! Walkers put all there money into paying that idiot Lineker instead of a decent product. Hopefully Burts Will kill them off!

21st century pickled onion space raiders are this century's biggest disappointment. They just taste of maize.

Monster Munch still taste the same but are woefully undersized.

Very disappointed to hear the news about Discos but agree Squares are as delicious as ever, as are S&V chipsticks although they don't do the very salty ready salted version anymore.

My fav is when you find a huge ball of Wotsit flavouring in the bottom of the bag and your mouth implodes Grin
