To put the washing machine upstairs?

Just moved house and there’s no space for a dishwasher in the kitchen. We could put one where the washing machine currently is and move the washing machine to the upstairs bathroom or just outside it. Is this a terrible idea?

Thanks for all the replies! It seems like the best plan for us, as our only other options are no dishwasher or machine in the garage.

I’m used to carrying wet washing upstairs to line-dry actually, as our old house was a townhouse, with utility on the ground floor, but garden up a level at the back of the house. At least this way I won’t have to carry washing down two flights of stairs to the machine!

Our washing machine and drier is upstairs and I line dry all the time. It's never been a problem carrying the washing downstairs, you'd have to do that anyway if your machine was in the kitchen.

Genius no carting endless dirty loads down and clean loads up.

Noise should be fine as long as you don't plan to run it overnight. If you have neighbours with small children it might be nice to check that you wouldn't disturb their nap time, but that's fairly unlikely.

I run mine overnight regularly (including high spin nappy washes) and it doesn’t disturb any of us - our laundry room doesn’t share a wall with any of the bedrooms, it’s sandwiched between the bathroom and home office plus on an external wall so don’t need to worry about neighbours being disturbed either. I guess it partly depends on your machine too but ours doesn’t disturb at all

It’s fine until you have a leak.

Superfurry isn't a basket of wet washing heavier than a basket of dry washing?
