To eat a spaghetti bolognese made last week?

I made a huge batch of spaghetti bolognese last Thursday and meant to eat/freeze it but other things got in the way. Will we be ill if we eat it?

Unless there are signs of spoilage it will be fine. So if it smells funny etc. Make sure you boil the sauce well before serving. Should be fine...

Cornettoninja · 01/11/2017 18:00

I'm pretty lax but no. I struggle to think of anything I'd eat cooked a week ago!

Creampastry · 01/11/2017 18:01

Eurgh..... no!

Fragglewump · 01/11/2017 18:15

Hmmm - I’m not bothered either way just wondering what to do with it - it’s looking at me! Smile

Personally, no I wouldn't.

SomethingNewToday · 01/11/2017 18:19

Ew no way, not from Thursday unless it's been frozen.

Food cooked from Saturday or before would be a no. Cooked from Monday onwards I would eat as long as covered and chilled.

Food cooked on Sunday would be a judgement call, depending on what it was and how hungry I was Grin ...but just for me, not the dc.

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 01/11/2017 18:27

If it's been refrigerated I'd eat it - but not if it's been left out in a warm kitchen for six days.

Candlelight234 · 01/11/2017 18:32

Not unless you don't mind risking food poisioning.

Fishcalledlola · 01/11/2017 18:33

If in doubt, chuck it out Grin

Fragglewump · 01/11/2017 18:38

Ew - even I wouldn’t leave it out of the fridge in a warm kitchen for 6 days and I’m a bit —reckless— relaxed about food and best before dates etc......that’s why I thought I’d get another opinion.

Strike through fail on reckless! How the chuff do you do it?

LaBelleSausage · 01/11/2017 18:39

I’d eat it.

Our fridge is excellent though and nothing ever goes off in there.

Scribblegirl · 01/11/2017 18:39

I wouldn't, but more because the consistency of the sauce will be shot after being refrigerated that long, rather than worrying about food poisonong...

expatinscotland · 01/11/2017 18:40

I would eat it.

Aeroflotgirl · 01/11/2017 18:40

Put it in the bin and make another one, no no no. That said FIL who is a retired GP, ate a week Lasagna, we waited with baited breath in case he got I'll, but no he was fine. It had been in the fridge.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 01/11/2017 18:42

I would. I used to regularly leave a massive pot of ragu on the stove and just eat it over the course of a week.

Not sure how being refrigerated changes the texture of a meat sauce you're going to nuke anyway Confused

I’m feeling quite pleased that other people would chance it......not so lonely and dirty!

My DS are some ham sandwiches that had been lurking in his warm, smelly school bag for 3 full days without my knowledge.
Obviously I freaked out, and was preparing for the inevitable fountains of puke. It didn't happen, couldn't actually believe it.

Candlelight234 · 01/11/2017 18:44

Ate not are!

Fragglewump · 01/11/2017 18:45

“Candlelight” I bet no-one thought you had a ham sandwich for a son! Grin

Give it a sniff.

I ate chilli last night which had been in the fridge since Friday, and made with mince which was a day or two past its best before date. It smelled and tasted absolutely fine and I haven't been ill.

Pease porridge hot
Pease porridge cold
Pease porridge in the pot, nine days old

PoppyFleur · 01/11/2017 18:49

Check for signs of spoilage, if there are none I would say it's fine.

daisypond · 01/11/2017 18:52

Yes, I would.
