To ask about pubic hair removal?

I’m quite new here not sure where to post this so feel free to move the post.

I just wonder if you remove your pink hair how do you do it? Shaving is making me so sore and itchy, hair removal cream doesn’t seem to work too well, Home waxing kit was pointless and pretty much just took my skin off (ouch!)

Is a proper wax the only way?

Any tips or tricks?

Thank Smile

Jaques- I understand that you have particular special circumstances. There do not apply to everyone

Absolutely agree. But also (and again for clarification I don't mean you) but I don't think mocking or being deliberately dismissive of people who DO have specific reasons into a "you're brainwashed and have no awareness" is also helpful.

I don't know any men who would prefer au naturelle

Why do you care what men prefer?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 01/11/2017 17:23

Bertrand, I have NEVER once said that about ANY woman and it's my post that you've quoted. You and I have had an epic debate on a previous thread and I said exactly the same thing then. I really am quite sad because a discussion obviously just isn't possible and what a waste of time it's been.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 01/11/2017 17:24

For me, that is. I'm not speaking for anybody else.

TammyswansonTwo · 01/11/2017 17:33

Bettermum - you don't know any men who prefer it? Well, apart from the fact that I couldn't give less of a shit what they prefer, I've been with several men who prefer natural pubic hair, both when I used to get rid of most of it and after I stopped. Men have a variety of preferences in this area, mostly dependent (although not entirely) on age. I'm sure many of the men who've grown up watching contemporary porn and with girlfriends who remove it prefer it to be mostly removed. My husband and many men his age - who grew up sneaking a peek of a mate's dad's 70s porn on VHS - are quite dismayed that so many women feel they need to remove their pubic hair for the sake of men.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/11/2017 17:34

I don't know any men who would prefer "au naturelle"!

Really?

A lot of men find a furry fanny highly erotic.

I don't know if younger ones don't - it may be at least party a generational thing.

(BTW - when I said about women buying iinto the patriarchy, it was tongue in cheek.)

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/11/2017 17:35

Cross-post Tammy

NextInLine · 01/11/2017 17:36

Ok so why do I think it looks better? Patriarchy? Because a man said so? Or simply because I know what I like and don’t like.
For what is worth I don’t like sprouts either, now is that because society tells me they taste like farts? Or because I just don’t like them? Why aren’t women allowed to know their own minds without being told they’re thoughts are conditioned by society?

I haven’t heard many people say that if you don’t shave you are dirty etc, what I have seen is people say ‘I feel cleaner when I shave’ that’s talking about them as an individual, not women as a class.

NextInLine · 01/11/2017 17:37

And I’d recommend exfoliating before shaving as well as gentle exfoliation after.
I’ve also found men’s razors and shave gels better than products aimed at women.

BertrandRussell · 01/11/2017 17:44

Lying- I wasn't specifically addressing you personally. But I do think it is a bit disingenuous not to see that the very many "dirty smelly, unhygienic" remarks mean that a lot of women think exactly that about women who don't remove their hair......

TammyswansonTwo · 01/11/2017 17:45

Are we really going to deny that the vast majority of women remove their pubic hair because at least on some level they've been conditioned to believe it's more attractive / hygienic? Really?

I mean, I shave my legs. I wouldn't be comfortable having hairy legs exposed in public. But I know full well why I feel that way. When I used to get my bikini line done, I did it because I felt it's what you do and if it made me feel better, it's because I'd gotten the message loud and clear that it's what I should be doing. There's a reason that you can get a wax on every high street these days, when a few decades ago it was quite a specialist service. It's become mainstream for a reason porn

I'm sure weaving daisies through your pubes would also look quite attractive but people aren't doing that are they? But if it became the next big thing in porn and men cottoned on to it I guarantee you could get Daisy pubes on any high street by 2030.

It's absolutely fine to buy into this stuff if you want to. But come on. Sure, I wear make up sometimes - why? Yes, it makes me feel better, because society tells me what is considered attractive and what isn't, and feeling attractive makes me feel better.

We really should have at least some self awareness on this. It's not a criticism to say that you follow gender conventions that have been drummed into you basically from birth.

MelodyvonPeterswald · 01/11/2017 17:48

Why aren’t women allowed to know their own minds without being told they’re thoughts are conditioned by society

They are "allowed". They just don't realise it. Why else would you now have 99.99% of women removing their underarm hair when just a few years ago hardly any of them did... This level of mass acceptance of what is "normal, acceptable or pretty" has nothing to do with coincidental individual choices.

BertrandRussell · 01/11/2017 17:48

"Why aren’t women allowed to know their own minds without being told they’re thoughts are conditioned by society?"

Because none of us do. We are all conditioned by society. And with something like this, which went from pubic hair to no pubic hair practically overnight there has to be an external reason.

I am old enough to remember women campaigning against compulsory shaving on admission to the Labour ward. In my adult lifetime it's gone from that campaign to women feeling they have to apologize to their midwives for not having shaved. Deeply ironic, I feel.

speakout · 01/11/2017 17:52

SchadenfreudePersonified.

I too have known several men who find pubic hair highly erotic.

None of my partners have been given the choice,
None complained or even mentioned it.
I brought up the subject to my OH the other week and he simply gave me weird look and laughed.

So if that's my experience I am guessing there are many men out there who actively like pubic hair or don't actually give a shit.

MelodyvonPeterswald · 01/11/2017 17:54

Who cares?

MaggieS41 · 01/11/2017 17:59

There’s a reason we have pubic hair and that’s to protect our fanny from sweat etc... having said that I got mine lasererd Grin!! Left a thick landing strip but I don’t have to worry about those boys on the side or around the boys! Best thing I ever did. If I want to shave it all off I go with the grain and then against it!

MaggieS41 · 01/11/2017 18:00

Boys???? I mean bits!!!

12345onceicaughtafish · 01/11/2017 18:04

Two words,
Laser and Lycon x

TammyswansonTwo · 01/11/2017 18:09

Exactly speakout - I've never discussed with a man what he would like me to do with my public hair, and I've never told them what to do with theirs. I have however had men expess relief that I still have it - I'm sure some men find the sight of a freshly plucked vulva appealing but certainly not all of them! I did have one bloke back in my Brazilian days who told me he wished I'd grow it out. Fortunately for him I'd already decided I wasn't getting waxed any more.

Maybe it's my age (I'm only 35 and most of the men I've been with have been 0-7 years older than me, and I've been with DH 10 years) but I'm stunned that any women haven't met men who prefer pubic hair. I'd say most of the guys I've been with have preferred it, whether I've had it at the time or not!

Is this a joke? I don't know any men who would prefer "au naturelle"! You should either go for laser hair removal (it can be painful but in the long run is definitely worth it), or if you can't afford laser treatment then shave, as others have suggested.

As I said above, I'm a 'remover' but who the hell things it's ok to tell people that they should remove their pubic hair? Imean, in what universe is this ok?

JacquesHammer · 01/11/2017 18:21

Your parents must be so proud of you

And this kind of puerile nonsense is why there can never be a true discussion about the topic.

Would I say having my hair removed is "the best thing I ever did?" Well no, as it came as part of a very distressing experience. Would I say the result is the "best thing I ever did" - with regards to my periods absolutely.

MelodyvonPeterswald · 01/11/2017 18:24

Why are you answering a point that was addressed by name to someone else?

BertrandRussell · 01/11/2017 18:25

"And this kind of puerile nonsense is why there can never be a true discussion about the topic"

What, because a couple of people say daft things?

JacquesHammer · 01/11/2017 18:26

Why are you answering a point that was addressed by name to someone else

Because that's how a forum works.....if you'd rather others didn't reply to your Very Important Specifically Addressed Point suggest a PM might be the vehicle you're looking for.

Otherwise making asinine comments is fair game
