What was the first purchase you made for your first baby, and how many weeks pregnant were you when you made it?

A 3-pack of babygrows from Next, just after the 12 week scan. I had a horrible HG pregnancy, and it gave me something to focus on.

EastDulwichWife · 31/10/2017 15:50

So many lovely buys! I really like the look of that book, and the link to your pregnancy journal is so adorable.

Liskee having the pram at 5 weeks is incredibly organised - I'm envious..!

Other than WTE and a baby names book, we're purchase-less at 9 weeks. Can't wait for the 12 week scan. If all goes well I'd like to buy a babygro then.

Travel system. Around 30 weeks I think.

We got given a ton of stuff though.

wildjim · 31/10/2017 16:04

I am currently 16 weeks, the furthest I have ever got after many early miscarriages. I am bursting to buy something but going to wait as long as I possibly can.

I like those saying the token they bought served as a symbol of hope or focus, maybe that is how I can justify it to myself.

Cyclingforcake · 31/10/2017 16:05

A jellycat rabbit. After the 12week scan. She still takes it everywhere.

Chipsahoy · 31/10/2017 16:07

I have always waited for after the 20 week scan to be sure the baby is ok.
I may buy a travel cot soon tho, cos I found one on offer..I'm almost 14 weeks

Waitingonasmile · 31/10/2017 16:09

We had pram at about 32 weeks and everything else after baby arrived.

30 weeks this time and haven't bought a thing. We do still have lots of things from last baby to use though.

glastogal · 31/10/2017 16:09

Bought baby's 'going home from hospital' outfit after our 12 week scan.. bought very little else until about 25 weeks, I think!

TeddyIsaHe · 31/10/2017 16:13

We bought a Taggies soft lamb after the 12 week scan. Dd has always hated it with a passion haha

TobleroneBoo · 31/10/2017 16:16

I'm loving reading this thread.

Im almost 17 weeks, but I bought a lovely hooded towel about 18 months ago because I was worried I wouldnt find one so lovely again!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 31/10/2017 16:21

At 12 weeks I bought a little handmade bib with a pattern that H will love. I don’t plan to buy anything else for a while, and if all is well at 20 week scan I will put it in his Christmas stocking.

I do have quite a few hand knitted (by me) baby hats and clothes but they were knitted as a stash of presents for other people’s babies!

TriJo · 31/10/2017 16:21

25 weeks and I've bought feck all this time. I'm tempted to order the car seat today because CamelCamelCamel tells me that it's at an all time low price on Amazon though...

kaytee87 · 31/10/2017 16:23

Pram and car seat after my 20 week scan

TheBadgersMadeMeDoIt · 31/10/2017 16:26

20 weeks - A fleecy Barnaby Button blanket. We still have it. In fact it’s just gone on top of DD’s duvet now that it’s turned cold. She’s 6 now and we still love that blanket!

honeylulu · 31/10/2017 16:27

A ginger cat Christmas tree decoration at around 20 weeks , soon after the scan. I actually gave it to my husband as a Christmas present "from the baby" although "baby" is now nearly 13 and knows the decoration is his, sort-of.
I didn't buy anything else until about 34 weeks, then got everything in one go.

For my youngest I think I bought some tights and leggings when I was also around 34 weeks. Literally nothing else as we already had everything including lots of lovely passed on clothes and new ones as presents.

EastDulwichWife · 31/10/2017 16:27

I love all these. Wildjim I hope the rest of your pregnancy is happy and healthy.

A copy of "What to Expect" about two years before, to help me get over my crippling fear of birth.

Then a Gap hoodie at about 10 weeks. Lots of bits and pieces thereafter as they went on sale/voucher codes turned up.

Handsfull13 · 31/10/2017 16:28

At 13 weeks I had hideous morning sickness and needed a pick me up so I bought a tiny pair of shoes. Neither of mine will every wear them but it was a little something to keep me going

IDoLikeARainbow · 31/10/2017 16:28

Car seat because it was a bargain on Amazon. Must have been around 16 weeks.

siblingrevelryagain · 31/10/2017 16:29

A mothercare hippo soft toy, as it was suitable for newborns so safe in the cot. I was 5 weeks.

He is a strapping 10 year old and sleeps with it still!

I then did the same with his two siblings, buying the equivalent mothercare toy for them (monkey and a cow). I also learnt by then to buy two, in case one ever got lost!

Mummyloves09 · 31/10/2017 16:30

A baby swing and travel cot at 8 weeks as I knew I wouldn't get a good deal like it again. I was 7 weeks

fuzzywuzzy · 31/10/2017 16:32

I was thirty weeks and bought pram, car seat and breast pads.

And then basic baby clothes and nappies for hospital bag.

I was terrified I’d lose the baby as I’d had so many miscarriages before and so was in denial a bit.

Neverender · 31/10/2017 16:35

Bought some tiny converse the day I found out I was pregnant and put the pregnancy test in the box and gave it to DH. I actually told MN before I told him as he was away for the weekend!

When he came back I presented him with the shoes and test and he said, “Why have you given me a pen in a box?!” Smile

Neverender · 31/10/2017 16:40

Ahh I had Bump to Birthday too - it’s all complete now for DD

Neverender · 31/10/2017 16:40

I even stuck our hospital bands in it
