She has always been incredibly beautiful

ILookedintheWater · 31/10/2017 12:00

Fabulous bone structure helps.
She has, of course, had work, but of the kind to make her look her best, not to make her look younger per se. I think has had an excellent quality lift. Were I in the public eye or the type of person who finds looking glamorous important, I would definitely be asking her on the QT who she used.

DryHeave · 31/10/2017 12:02

I've seen her close up in person. She's gorgeous!

ThisMeans · 31/10/2017 12:02

Just watched a video piece of her new programme, reminds me why I don't watch them Grin. Nigella is of course a natural beauty. But IMO the botox she's had is not a good look - puffy and plastic.

TheBadTemperedLadybird · 31/10/2017 12:09

I love Nigella and I think she looks amazing but equally there's nfw it's without some help. Who dares though, it's up to her.

TheBadTemperedLadybird · 31/10/2017 12:10

Who cares that should have said

phoenix1973 · 31/10/2017 12:10

Bowling shoes 😂😂😂😂

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 31/10/2017 12:12

What's all this "she looks good for her age". She is no age, she's only a young women.

HaHaHmm · 31/10/2017 12:14

She’s fifty-seven. Hardly ancient but I don’t think most people would consider the late fifties to be the first, or even second flush of youth.

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 31/10/2017 12:21

Seeing as we're talking about Nigella, I'll just leave this here...

riseandfall · 31/10/2017 12:22

Young woman at 58?? Hardly and I say that as someone in my 50's

BorisTrumpsLair · 31/10/2017 12:26

I think it's fairly obvious she's had a whole heap of "work" done, and last time I saw her on the telly she was wearing loads of make up

skustew · 31/10/2017 12:27

Good genetics, good lighting and good doctors.

She has looked a tad Pete burns in the past, but has toned it down.

annandale · 31/10/2017 12:28

For someone who has been bereaved of so much -her parents' marriage, her sister, her mother, her first husband, her privacy and safety in her second marriage - no wonder she has had a fuckload of the very best work done. I would doubt a gastric band personally but one of those diets where they drop the food off to you so you don't have any at home, or ironically a personal chef, quite likely imo.

I don't want anyone to be unhappy but I can't help hoping that she really is happy. Her piece about grief in Feast is a beautiful piece of writing.

Delatron · 31/10/2017 12:28

I'm 41 and feel old. She is nearly 60, she has no visible wrinkles, no sagging, no baggy eyes, no jowels. I think that's impressive (I know it's mainly down to 'work' but still). I honestly can't think of any other 58 year olds in real life or on tv who look like that at that age.

NotNowBernard1 · 31/10/2017 12:33

Why is it impressive? Why the disdain for any signs of ageing?

Delatron · 31/10/2017 12:38

Maybe impressive is the wrong word. I get your point. The title of the thread is 'how does Nigella look like that?'. In a good way, so clearly we are admiring her ability to age well. I guess what we see on tv has now skewered our views of aging and what it looks like to be a woman in her late 50's
I'm astounded at people who are claiming 58 is young and of course that's how most people look in their late 50's. They don't, so we're discussing how she's achieved it.

I don't know, is it wrong to want to look good for your age? I'm not going down without a fight!

Hanuman · 31/10/2017 12:39

She looks really odd to me - like Michael Jackson

OddMollie · 31/10/2017 14:08

As has been said many times, she's always been stunning. I find it so depressing that if she, with her massive natural advantages of bone structure and genes, resorts to surgery, where does that leave the rest of us? I'm mid-40s and I'd love to see women in the public eye ageing naturally. Beauty doesn't have to mean a tight, mask-like face, but if we don't ever see real 50+ beauty, the definition quickly narrows to only encompass that.

doodle01 · 31/10/2017 14:15

OMG - Hope to god these are all female posters !

SilverySurfer · 31/10/2017 14:38

I don't care what she looks like, I can't stand her.

NotNowBernard1 · 31/10/2017 14:47

We are so used to seeing celebrities skilfully made up, in flattering lights, photoshopped etc that we are setting impossibly high standards for all women.

Nigella is frequently papped looking perfectly normal but a million miles from how she appears on TV and in photo shoots.

Back in a minute ....

ThisMeans · 31/10/2017 14:48

Beauty doesn't have to mean a tight, mask-like face

Exactly. All female presenters over 45 look like this I'm afraid - so much "work". I can understand it with News presenters to some extent. But general journalists or a cookery show host - there's a bit more leeway for individuality surely?

buggerthebotox · 31/10/2017 15:36

"All" presenters do not look their ageHmm?

Well, there's Prue Leith for a start-and Mary Berry of course. Both look their age (whatever that is). What about Angela Rippon, Julia Somerville and Gloria Hunniford-all still presenting? Ok, they're not great stars but they've all had long journalistic careers. They also seem comfortable in their skins.

OddMollie · 31/10/2017 16:13

It seems to be the case that a natural face becomes acceptable when women get past a sort of watershed of maybe around 70, and TV execs/the viewing public can fairly unequivocally slot them into the 'old and sexless' category. Up until that point there is enormous pressure on them to keep their position in the 'youthful and still got it' category. It seems that the process of ageing is seen as somehow shameful. Women have to be one thing or the other and the gradual transition we all go through in our 40s 50s and 60s is hidden from view.
