Surely anyone that calls a woman that at work should be sacked immediately?!

You cant just sack somebody immediatly ( unless they are new). I would imagine a very stern telling off.

It was a popular thing to say a few years ago where I worked (factory) due to Gavin & Stacey. Everyone called each other it for a while. That said if the person who was called it does not like it they should complain to the manager.

StickThatInYourPipe · 30/10/2017 07:14

Depends on who it is and the context of the relationship I guess. I would be furious if my boss said it to me, or any of the people I don't know/socialise with. However if it was one of my 'mates' I wouldn't be bothered, I have probably called them and been called much worse.

exLtEveDallas · 30/10/2017 07:14

Mark Garnier, an MP (used to be my local MP). He called his PA Sugartits and got her to go shopping for sex toys for him. Dick.

skustew · 30/10/2017 07:14

A Tory minister, shouldn't they be held to a higher level than Tesco workers?

But he wins the prize for the most bizarre combination of words -ever

Slartybartfast · 30/10/2017 07:17

oh it was Gavin and Stacey, google did not help me when I just this minute searched.

CosmicPineapple · 30/10/2017 07:19

Unwanted name calling regardless of occupation should be dealt with correctly.

The sex toy shopping should be sackable yuk!

skustew · 30/10/2017 07:19

Because he's reached one of the highest positions in the country of public service.

whiskyowl · 30/10/2017 07:19

He sent his PA to buy two vibrators - one for a woman in his constituency office, the other for his wife.

And he called his PA sugartits.

Common sense would suggest that it's unlikely these are 2 isolated incidents of misbehaviour.

LakieLady · 30/10/2017 07:20

Maybe not sacked, but reported according to the organisation's procedures and then told in no uncertain terms that this is unacceptable and given a formal warning.

I call my BIL sugartits.

Noimbrianfromhull · 30/10/2017 07:26

He's an absolute bellend but (and it's a small but) at least he's admitted it rather than accusing the woman of lying or trying to discredit her as is all too common with this type of bellend.

amibeingaprude · 30/10/2017 07:27

Who is the MP?

skustew · 30/10/2017 07:28

Mel Gibson is awful! He told his ex she was dressing like a vegas whore and it would be her fault if a pack of n words raped her. Vile man!

OP posts:
StickThatInYourPipe · 30/10/2017 07:31

When I wrote my earlier comment I didn't know this was about a specific incident.

Obviously in this situation he has crossed a massive unacceptable line and the consequences should reflect the humiliation he caused his PA. However the other things surrounding this (buying dildos etc) make me think the sugar tits comment is the least of his issues ATM.

Lucyyati · 30/10/2017 07:34

Fuck Mel Gibson

Laceup · 30/10/2017 07:38

Ahh loved that programme, wish they'd do another series

TinyDoom · 30/10/2017 07:38

@8stone, it's bad, but you clearly haven't read the latest Jilly Cooper book (cough buttercunt)...

But, yes, I think the minister in question has behaved despicably!

I am old, so can remember Prisoner Cell Block H. I think they replaced Sugar with Vinegar..

Is there no sector of the economy where this type of behaviour cannot come out?

Reading yesterday about a (now) senior woman at the FCA, who suffered similar earlier in her career. That was in Law, so nothing remotely trendy or arty - not that that makes a difference, just shows this seems rife in all sectors.

SkyBlue17 · 30/10/2017 08:01

What is even worse is the number of men on line who are trying to justify or down play it. It is not acceptable at work and nor was it even decades ago at work.

Also apparently he allegedly went on an outing with his assistant and sent her into a sex shop to buy two items for his wife and someone else.
The thing is this is not just about one man at all. Groups of women at the BBC, connected to Parliament and in all kinds of industry sectors have been exchanging stories about sex pest men in their industries usually senior men and younger women at work and it is very prevalent. I have examples myself. Often it feels too trivial to complain about at the time but that in a sense is what some of these men rely on and keep doing it for decades.
