To think we've made a mistake and return this tap

I think it may be too big and in your face. Does it?

Also can I return it as it's been fitted? Not really used it other than to check it works.

Since taking the photo it seems to be leaning forward quite noticably if it's leaning now, after being properly fitted It can only get worse, do the instructions tell you how to fit and and have they been followed?

Temporary2002 · 30/10/2017 06:40

We returned a bathroom one as it was too big. Dh had installed it, but they took it back no problem. Renovations always have a hitch of some sort! Good luck!

speakout · 30/10/2017 06:49

The whole thing looks like an autopsy room.

Sorry but it's horrible.

BalloonSlayer · 30/10/2017 07:13

My granny had those tiles in her bathroom!

Not trying to make you feel bad - I always loved them and am chuffed to see them in fashion.

TriciaMcMillan · 30/10/2017 07:16

We have a similar one but with a big butler sink, so it balances it out. Completely agree with pp above that it's not the tap that's the issue but the sink. It definitely shouldn't be leaning though, that's only going to get worse, so something will have to change.

Kissmycousinkate · 30/10/2017 07:20

I don't think you have it connected properly, I think the black bit screws into the bottom coil if that makes sense , you shouldn't seek the tube bit.

LolaTheDarkerdestroyer · 30/10/2017 10:03

It looks odd it doesn’t go with the sink...if you got a more modern sink it would look fine.

justalittlelemondrizzle · 30/10/2017 12:45

Thanks everyone. I do absoloutely love the tap but you're right, it doesn't go with the sink. I now have to convince DH. He loves it (can't be bothered with the hassle of changing it now)

Tap looks good.

Sink looks really small and cheap. I'd have gone for a much deeper 1.5 sink.

DJBaggySmalls · 30/10/2017 12:48

Its fabulous. What does it do?

Justmuddlingalong · 30/10/2017 12:49

If you have kids, I guarantee they will skoosh each other across the kitchen with that tap!

justalittlelemondrizzle · 30/10/2017 12:50

Oh it was from Screwfix so fingers crossed they let us swap it if we package it up as it came.
And the tiles are definately not to my taste. We're planning on changing them in the future.

I think its too big and not suitable for your sink.
don't hesitate, just give it back.

MrTrebus · 30/10/2017 12:53

The sink is your problem it's horrendous.

justalittlelemondrizzle · 30/10/2017 12:55

What's wrong with the sink. It's just a standard sink isn't it?

OP posts:
ASDismynormality · 30/10/2017 12:55

I agree with everyone else, the sink is the problem not the tap.

puddingpen · 30/10/2017 13:08

Sink would be fine with a normal tap. That tap needs a fancy sink to avoid the autopsy look imho.

This is the sort of tap that you would expect to see with that sink.

What about this? Will this go?

Exactly - it's the cheapest most bog standard least user friendly sink there is. The kind of sink you only put in a kitchen renovation if you are doing it on the tightest of budgets e.g. For a student rental or social housing rental.

There are way nicer sinks if you are spending money on a new kitchen!

baffledcoconut · 30/10/2017 14:12

We have that sink. The tap is nice. The sink... doesn’t match.

(I hate our sink. Nothing about it brings me joy)

justalittlelemondrizzle · 30/10/2017 14:21

We've not had a new kitchen. Probably won't bother in this house. I wouldn't put one of those in a new kitchen. We just needed to replace the white, 20 year old stained and leaking sink with a newer one in the same style for ease of DH fitting it.

Temporary2002 · 31/10/2017 01:16

Yes, that would be a better size paired with your sink, in my opinion. Also the one posted above your post would be great with it.

Temporary2002 · 31/10/2017 01:20

Also, much simpler to unscrew a faucet than take out a sink. Your sink is perfectly fine and very practical having the drain board attached.
