I want the money though.

Oh conflicted mind.

I am back Tues after 10 days off. I am quite looking forward to going back but not the catching up part.

When I was doing bank work I felt like you often OP. In my job now if I don't go in another colleague would have to come in and cover for me. So I go in unless I'm really unwell of course. I wasn't a great bank worker.

leccybill · 29/10/2017 21:58

It's usually pretty quiet the week after a holiday on supply though, isn't it? Mondays were always my quietest day for bookings when I did it.

Lolimax · 29/10/2017 21:58

I’m off tomorrow and intend to spend most of it in bed. But I have worked 12 hour shifts all weekend and will be doing them most of next week.

HopefullyAnonymous · 29/10/2017 21:58

I so don't want to go in. I leave in5 weeks and I'm on holiday for two of them, but i just want to stay in bet with Netflix, chocolate and lots of tea!

Judydreamsofhorses · 29/10/2017 21:59

We’re back from half-term tomorrow, and I am dreading it. I know i’ll be fine when I get in, but the 6.30 alarm is already mocking me.

TheWickedWitchofWestYorkshire · 29/10/2017 22:08

I have tomorrow off due to childcare issues but I am hoping to get plenty of work the rest of the week. It doesn't matter how much you enjoy your job, the thought of working is quite often harder and more painful than the work itself, isn't it!

tombstoneteeth · 29/10/2017 22:08

Best paid babysitters?? I'm paid $53 an hour as a supply teacher. The average class has 25 students. I'm expected to crowd-control adolescents who think supply-teacher baiting is the best sport in the curriculum, teach those who need help with their subject, keep noise to a reasonable level and prevent peer defenestration, among other activities. Would you expect your babysitter to do all that for $2 an hour per child?

Slimthistime · 29/10/2017 22:09

mammmamia · 29/10/2017 22:12

Work is a choice? Hmm where on MN has that been said?
I don't think work is a choice if you are employed. You're committed to showing up.

mammmamia · 29/10/2017 22:12

That was to vivienne

SilverdaleGlen · 29/10/2017 22:17

Poverty surely looking after other people's pets in your house means you can live in PJs year round?!

Chuck food at them, walk them a bit jobs a good un? granted I only have fish and horses

I don't want to go to work tomorrow either I have a stinky cold and want to stay home 😫 But I have to fly and I HATE flying.

frankie001 · 29/10/2017 22:18

I am off tomorrow as had to change shifts. I know I will be especially grumpy on fri as that was meant to be my day off and now will be spent at work. I also don’t want to go in on Tues either!

yorkshireyummymummy · 29/10/2017 22:35

I'm so glad you are not teaching my children tomorrow.
I think your ' can't be arsed ' attitude must show in your teaching.
It's quite reprehensible that you are prepared to take the ££ offered to you when you clearly don't want to do the job.
Maybe you are in the wrong profession.

Oldraver · 29/10/2017 22:36

I've just gone back to work after having years at home. It's manual agency work and it's ok but my immediate boss is back off holidays tomorrow and I am dreading her moaning

Inkandbone · 30/10/2017 07:14

Was that a joke post yorkshire? Confused

OuchBollocks · 30/10/2017 07:17

Oh get a grip yorkshire, pretty much everyone has CBA moments. Doesnt mean we're shit at our jobs. I'm sure the OP is great when she gets going.

I love my job but I’ve just adopted two kittens so I’m having serious Mondaaaargh feelings! Want to stay at home and play with them.

Inkandbone · 30/10/2017 07:33

Mostly I don't get 'proper supply work anyway, its shitty cover supervisor stuff.

It depends. If I am in music I can sometimes help. If I am in maths, I manifestedly CANNOT help, find a clever looking kid and get him to explain it to me then try to explain it to the class whilst looking pleadingly at Smart Alec as I do so.

No phone call yet

sonjadog · 30/10/2017 07:37

I am a teacher who doesn´t have to go in until 1pm today, rather than 8am as normal. I´m finding it quite disturbing to be sitting at my kitchen table at this time on a Monday morning.

disappearingninepatch · 30/10/2017 07:43

I'm a supply teacher, too. It's a funny feeling, isn't it? Not sure if I want my phone to ring or not.

Therealslimshady1 · 30/10/2017 07:46

If you are a supply teacher, do you get paid any kind of retainer, just to be available, even if you are not called up?

SilverSpot · 30/10/2017 07:51

What the fuck @yorkshireyummymummy? Wind your neck in. Most people have ‘I can’t be fucked to go in’ feelings and still manage to do a good job.

pippitysqueakity · 30/10/2017 07:51

thereal not in my experience, no.

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 30/10/2017 07:54

We have an INSET day today. I do not want to go. It's with the whole academy trust, I'm pretty sure the venue will not be big enough, so it'll be a huge squash, and, worst of all, lunch is not until 1pm! 1PM!

(This may not seem that bad, except my lunch break is 11:50-12:20. So I've just eaten breakfast normal time, and my body will be expecting lunch at 11:50, and there will be none for over an hour!!!

Quite looking forward to Tuesday and children, though. I bought myself a Smiggle pencil case over half term, so I will be the coolest grown-up in school.
