To want a seat for my large DC?

Actually this title sounds a bit odd but I couldn't think of anything else.

My DD is nearly 6 months and she is big. 99th percentile when born and is now long and big and heavy! Don't get me wrong I love her to bits and she is totally the right size for her age etc just stating facts.

She is not yet crawling etc although she is rolling and likes to sit up. She has a bouncer type chair and has basically outgrown it but when I go to answer the door, have a shower etc I need somewhere to put her and it's perfect in front of the telly when I want a cup of tea

I've tried to Google large bouncers, baby chair etc etc they all seem to be up to 9kg which she is over. I know she'll be crawling soon and I can pop her in a play pen of some sort but what can I do for now? I can't leave her on her play mat etc as she now rolls over and could be in any position when I get back. AIBU to bring my baby in the shower with me because I can't think of a solution?! Help!

Can you put her in her cot whilst you shower etc? Pop some toys in and if she rolls she’s not going to hurt herself.
If your front rooms big enough, what about a travel cot, again throw some toys in and she can safely roll to her hearts content.
You can get chairs suitable for up to toddlers that come with harnesses, the bean bags are a good option - I think suitable for up to 7 years old?

MrTrebus · 22/10/2017 15:12

Thank you I did look at the bean bags with harnesses but theyre very expensive. I think £50 for the Fisher price chair would probably be our limit.

Bumbo will not fit her legs in so don’t waste your money

RandomMess · 22/10/2017 15:34

Look for one on eBay near you or put a request on local Facebook sale pages - bound to be someone selling one close by!

Strapped into the buggy or in cot for a quick shower.

Twodogsandahooch · 22/10/2017 15:36

GALT play ring perfect for this age

Ttbb · 22/10/2017 15:39

I second bumbo. Or just a play mat/baby gym type of thing. We didn't use baby bouncers past six months either (because DSs figured out how to throw themselves out of them because they were bored af as oppose to being too big, they're both pretty average sized, or were st that age anyway).

Bananamama1213 · 22/10/2017 15:40

I have the fisher price chair (I got it with our first child) and will be using it again for our third. I’m due in April 😊

My children are 4 and 5 now, they found it the other day and both decided to sit in it. It didn’t look like it struggled to hold them at all!

MrTrebus · 22/10/2017 15:53

Ok I'm sold. She is a lazy baby so very happy to just sit and chill out like an adult!! So I think it will suit her.

Someone suggested on another thread if you use a shower attachment over the bath you can place baby in a bath seat whilst you shower.

Juicyfruitloop · 22/10/2017 15:59

I would not recommend a jumper or most of the bouncy chairs. My DS was huge 99 percentile too, he was far to big, his jumperoo and sit me up seats were a waste by 6 months. I used to put him in his high chair wedged in with a blanket in the bathroom while I took a shower.

sayyouwill · 22/10/2017 16:08

I had a bumbo, my son leaned too far over in it and it toppled. I was in the shower and just heard the crash and the scream. Rushed him to A&E but he was okay. It could have been much worse if he'd leaned the other way he would have hit his head on the wall.
I bought a jumparoo and at 10 months he still loves it and it's so useful!!

Fisher price baby to toddler seats. Like bouncy chairs but very sturdy.

My twins are 98th centile and 2 and a half and they still sit in theirs!

MrTrebus · 22/10/2017 20:05

Thanks everyone! Just purchased this and I look forward to it coming!

My grandson is along the same lines, he loves his jumperoo and will happily spend hours in it
