To be tearfully devastated at missing Cbeebies birthday announcement?

So I spent days making a beautiful card for my daughter Penny's 1st birthday. I put in so much effort, and then bought the massive envelope, paid the expensive postage cost, and set up all the various time slots to record the birthday announcements on the day (Friday 20th Oct).
I come home that evening and excitedly go through the recordings to find that my TiVo box inexplicably didn't record the lunchtime slot. It did the morning and evening slot, but the lunchtime recordings are just grey screens of Doom.
I put it to the back of my mind, believing that the card probably wasn't read out then anyway, only to be messaged THE NEXT DAY by my friend saying "ooh, I saw penny's card on TV".
I'm devastated. I've tried tweeting, facebooking and emailing Cbeebies and anyone affiliated with them, but they make it clear that they don't send out recordings.
I'm So Upset! I feel irrationally angry with BBC for not putting them on iPlayer. I'm angry at TiVo box for buggering up the recordings. I'm even angry at my friend for waiting a whole day to tell me it was shown.
Its just a card. My daughter wouldn't even understand, she's only one. But I was so proud and so excited. AIBU??! XX

Nobody criticised your parenting skills. It's a fact that she doesn't care, and reality is that by the time she's a teenager she'll probably be mortified.

Any luck yet OP? Been following this thread and crossing my fingers. It will be worth it to see the smile on her face when she hears her name read out.

spungold1475 · 22/10/2017 10:59

Someone has kindly offered to get it for me, but won't be able to until next weekend. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I've also been given a few other leads by some really kind people. I will update the thread once I have a result. 😁 Xx

That's great! I have absolutely no idea why you've been flamed by some on here for, at worst, over-keen parenting.

unicornhelp · 22/10/2017 12:43

Hey, I work at the BBC so I should be able to get it for you. I’m not at work until Tuesday though so if none of your other leads come through by then PM me the date and time it was on and I’ll do my best! (You May need to PM to remind me on Tuesday as well as I’ll probably forget!)

Just to update - I found the card I remembered seeing but it was for a different child (same name, similar design) so OP is still looking. Hoping someone else will be able to help...

spungold1475 · 22/10/2017 14:22

Thank you so much!! So many helpful people, I really appreciate it. Xx

I really hope you do find this clip. My CBeebies days are over too but can understand your disappointment at missing this.
Just for the record for those who said when she gets older she won’t care and as a teenager she would be ‘mortified’. I have a 17yr old dd and she would love to see this if it was her!

Tankerdale · 22/10/2017 15:46

I can see it's really disappointing but I've always wondered about the 1st birthday ones. Does she really watch cbeebies that much? Would she have even noticed? Who was it actually for - you or her!! I would have thought it better to save the effort for her 2nd, 3rd 4th etc when she might actually notice.

spungold1475 · 22/10/2017 17:15

She's very aware of her own image and laughs at selfies, so I was also hoping she might have a similar reaction to this. But even if not, it would be something to show her over the next few years. I'm pretty sure any kid would love to see themselves on TV and having their name read out by their version of celebrities: Cbeebies presenters.
For those people saying at 1 she wouldn't know and we a teenager she would be mortified... Well there are a few years in between that! 😀

Plus the fact that they only read out about half of the cards they receive, there's no guarantee any others would get shown. Seeing as this one was, I'd really like to see it! 😀

It's fine if it's more for her benefit, surely? Most parents don't take a crap load of photos to put on Facebook for their kids benefit either. She's just enjoying being a mum!

PandorasXbox · 22/10/2017 19:02

Some of you are really nasty. Of course anyone sending in a birthday card to be read out for their dc would be upset if they’d missed it. Fucking hell.

Hope you sort it OP.

Kannet · 23/10/2017 12:18

I have 7 day catch up. I should be able to get it for you. What time was it on or between which programmes

Kannet · 23/10/2017 12:24

I have got it for you. Will try and attach a link

GourmetFishFinger · 23/10/2017 12:30

Hope you find the footage OP.

I'm going to make a card for my DD's 2nd. Can't wait to see it on Cbeebies, even though her birthday is 30th December.

PandorasXbox · 23/10/2017 12:38

Well done Kannet Star

spungold1475 · 23/10/2017 12:46

Oh wow!!! Thank you so so so much!! That's brilliant I'm so thrilled, and that's really made my week. Thank You! Can't wait to show her when she wakes up from her nap 😀😀😀
Thank you to everyone who helped me! xxxxxx

Aw so glad you found it OP!

It would have been upsetting to have missed it but MN has saved the day!

Well done Kannet

Your card is fab. Glad you got to see it.

What a lovely end to the story.

Well done Kannet and everyone else that tried to help.

Miserable twats can unclench at the word devastated being used now.
