I’ll start.

‘My god girl- You’re pregnant.’

Said by a Dr to a 14 year old me.

OP posts:

We are taking you to icu. You are very ill.

That moment when your life is out of your control and you might not say good bye to your family.

I lay in icu and took every needle/medicine and prodding with a mission to survive.

Septic shock is terrifying.

ivykaty44 · 22/10/2017 19:54

I want to kiss you passionately

👀😊 ❣

“Mrs X wishes to die at home”

My mum ill in hospital and I hadn’t been told by anyone she was dying and this was the end.

Borntoflyinfirst · 22/10/2017 20:29

‘Her dads got cancer’ said by my 13 year old friend to our other 13 year old friends (I was 13 too)

‘You’d better come back’ said by my mum or my sister when I’d popped out to feed the cats the day my dad died 6 years later.

‘She’s pregnant and it’s mine’ said by my xdh the day after I suggested we work through his confession of an affair.

‘I’ll be there to make you smile’ said by now dh after our first date almost 20 years ago.

‘It’s positive’ said by dh after 2 years try and fertility treatment.

‘It’s a girl’

‘I’ll just measure the sac’ said by the lady performing my dating scan at approx 12 weeks. I just knew her next words would not be good. It was a molar pregnancy.

‘It’s a boy’
‘It’s a girl’

Some bad but some good for me. 💐 to everyone. This thread is very sobering.

DeathByMascara · 22/10/2017 21:01

‘I’m sorry to say that it is cancer’

Nurse at my GP practise on the phone to me while I stood in John Lewis kitchen department. I’d had a dodgy smear and didn’t understand what the receptionist was telling me, so the nurse called me back to explain.

It wasn’t cancer. I was 23.

I still hiss and spit when I see her in the street.

40andfeelingit · 22/10/2017 21:12

"The biopsy has shown it is breast cancer"

Aged 41 with a 2 year old and a 9 month old.
Now 44, main treatment over, just left with crappy menopausal symptoms and very little tolerance to bullshit but appreciate life and value those who were there for us so so much.

eversoslightlytired · 22/10/2017 21:22

Two...

"I know on original presentation the doctor wasn't too concerned.... well I'm sorry but it is cancer, grade III, and it's in your lyphnodes" - on being told I had breast cancer.

"It's a tumour" - doctor explaining what the big white ball on our 8 yo son's brain scan was.

NoCanoe · 22/10/2017 21:36

I was 22. Had numerous hospital appointment in one week after not been taken seriously by GP for months.

It was a Friday. Consultant said..... 'We have to operate. Go home and say whatever you need to. Write some letters. I can't guarantee you will come out of this. I'm sorry. You need to come back Monday morning at 8am'.
I'm still here. 30 years later.

MrsHandles · 22/10/2017 21:46

My dad ringing me and saying, “Your mam’s had a massive heart attack and it’s not looking good.”

I was in the car before he’d even finished.

A five hour drive through the night and half an hour after I got there a doctor saying, “She’s gone, I’m so sorry. She fought so hard.”

I never got to see her before she went.

cafeaulaitpourvous · 23/10/2017 06:29

Phone call at 4am on a warm summers morning from DD who is at uni

‘Mummy help me - I am at the police station, I have been raped’

OneOfTheGrundys · 23/10/2017 07:01

"Give me the baby."

Said by DH to me before he told me my BF had died suddenly in her sleep. DH was worried I'd drop my 3mo old in shock. (I ran to the loo and vomited instead).

Phillipa12 · 23/10/2017 07:18

"Im so sorry, we tried everything" said to me by a very tearful nurse after dd age 3 went into septic shock and died.

AyeAyeFishyPie · 23/10/2017 08:13

'You're digging yourself a nice grave young lady' from my mum on my 17th birthday as a way of telling me off.
'Yes' - my boyfriends answer when I proposed. 10 years later and I couldn't be happier.

HHH3 · 23/10/2017 14:53

'I'm sorry to have to tell you that X has committed suicide'

Said by the police, by phone, about DS2's dad.

KarateKitten · 23/10/2017 15:05

'I'd love you even if you murdered someone'

My mum when I was about 7. I've always felt unconditionally loved and that was proof.

Nessiej78 · 23/10/2017 15:22

"I don't want to be married to you anymore. I bet you'll meet someone else and be really happy with him" said by my ex husband.
5 years later here I am living with my dp, cuddled up on the sofa with my 4 month old ds. Ex didn't ever want children and I didn't think I was that bothered. He definitely did me a favour as it turns out being a mum is the best thing I have ever done!

TieGrr · 23/10/2017 15:31

'I think he's sweet on you' - my best friend the night me and DP got together. Had she not said this, I probably wouldn't have worked up the courage to make the first move.

Gah81 · 23/10/2017 15:34

"Most people are disposed to like someone when they first meet them. You have to be really irritating for people to actually dislike you"

Made the world of difference to a shy, introverted teenage me - I always started off from the view that people started off being irritated by/not liking/despising me.

I started assuming most people liked me unless I gave them very good reason not to do so and 20 years later, I have wonderful friends, am often told I am a people person and an active social life.

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 23/10/2017 15:35

During a management/personal coaching session with a professional coaching consultant:

“As a coach this is the first time I’ve ever said this...I don’t think you can work through this and you need to leave”

“My job?”

“Yes, but also your marriage”

Morphene · 23/10/2017 15:36

"you really need to stop whinging and just get the fuck on with it"

said to me by a final year PhD student when I was suffering with the second year blues in my own PhD.

Turned me around at a crucial point in my life.

velmadinkly · 23/10/2017 15:45

"Here's your baby"

As the midwife passed me DD

Lucy1971 · 23/10/2017 16:00

'It's not good news it's a secondary' my Dad last Christmas

'Dad's gone' my brother 4 months later

It's been a crap year

MiriAmmerman · 23/10/2017 16:22

‘We’ve tested the tissue we removed, and I’m afraid it’s cancerous.’ Gynaecologist to me 3.5 yrs ago. Followed by hysterectomy and chemotherapy.

‘I’m pregnant!’ My lovely DP in August, following 18 months of fertility treatment.

‘Your cancer has returned - there’s another tumour in your pelvis.’ Oncologist 3 weeks ago at routine follow-up appointment. Am now preparing for more surgery. Desperate to be doing ok in April, which is when our precious, much-wanted DC1 is due.

Thudercatsrule · 23/10/2017 16:24

I might be reading the signals wrong...

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 23/10/2017 16:25
