To not understand why Jason Manford is still popular?

There are multiple stories of him cheating, sexting when in a relationship with pregnant people, and just generally treating women like shit.

He is on Loose Women, showcasing his new singing career, milking his 'cheeky chappy' persona, talking about his Nana and his kids, and is being fawned over by all the presenters.

He is obviously a huge bellend (he probably claims he is a 'sexual addict's or something) and i just don't get why people still seem to love him?

Also to the person who said they were the only person in the country not to like Mrs Brown - NOPE!
That show is awful and I have never met anyone who likes it. I wonder who is watching it? It makes Miranda look both funny and intellectually stimulating.

Montacute · 18/10/2017 23:56

He's so unsexy that I can't even begin to imagine him as some kind of lothario. He looks like a geography supply teacher who smells of boiled carrots.

KrytensNanobots · 18/10/2017 23:59

Peter Kaye is great live. I have actually cried with laughter watching him

Went to see his last tour, loved it. Smile

TinklyLittleLaugh · 19/10/2017 00:27

Jason Manford is just not attractive in the slightest. And he's one of those unmemorable people who you mix up with someone else. In fact I thought for years that he was Lee Mack. Blew my mind a bit when they were both on Countdown at the same time.ConfusedGrin

Haudyerwheesht · 19/10/2017 00:29

He is quite funny imo - like a funny bloke down the pub kind of thing.

Anyways he has 4 kids by two women I think and was an utter bastard cheating on his pregnant wife. However I don't think he cheated on his girlfriend / mother of other kid - just googled and he did sleep with someone apparently but when they'd split up and she didn't know she was pregnant so not really the same is it??

He comes across alright - definitely think he's been a victim of believing his own hype in the past and treated his wife appallingly though.

Still think he's quite funny though and afaik he still has a fair bit to do with his kids and wife etc (obvs only from what he says I know) so you know, could be worse I suppose. I like him because he isn't overtly offensive like jimmy carr or frankIe Boyle or Katherine Ryan etc

PeachMelbaPud · 19/10/2017 00:32

I don't find him funny.

Mrscaindingle · 19/10/2017 00:46

I've never given him too much thought really, he's just another one of those mildly humourous blokes always appearing on panel shows.

That FB post though...ugh ...now I really dislike him Grin

KrytensNanobots · 19/10/2017 01:16

I haven't really watched any of his stand up shows, but he's great on Facebook.
He's down to earth, like your real life Facebook friends that posts. He interacts and replies with fans like proper mates do too.
That's a big draw for some.
Interaction, engagement, seeming normal, a celebrity, still down to earth.

"He was forced to quit his job as host of the BBC1’s The One Show after he was caught swapping saucy Twitter messages with a female fan and he admitted having internet sex sessions with a porn star and 12 fans."

"More recently it was reported that he was again caught exchanging explicit messages with another female fan.

In February of this year The Sun claimed that the pair exchanged 'hundreds of messages' from November 2011 to March 2012 after the woman told Manford, who has been married to his actress wife since 2007, that her son was a fan of his."

Lovely.

notacooldad · 19/10/2017 21:11

Hauder
In what way is Katherine Ryan offensive ( genuine question)
I've only see some of her shows on YouTube and she was quite funny.

Haudyerwheesht · 19/10/2017 21:43

@notacooldad I can't think of specific examples tbh although she presents your face or mine with jimmy carr..... I just remember seeing her on TV a couple of times and finding her .... distasteful

notacooldad · 19/10/2017 21:54

Hauyder That's interesting.because on the clips I have seen she calls people out on White Privilege ( including herself)
I didn't like her on HIGNFY but decided to watch her and thought she was funny and I was pleasantly surprised.

AndrewJames · 19/10/2017 22:31

Why should I care if he's a cheat or a sex addict? None of my business. Comedians are there to make me laugh, if they do that their job is done. His personal life has nothing to do with that.

I don't understand people who give a shit, tbh.

NashvilleQueen · 19/10/2017 22:37

I don’t really watch or listen to him on anything. I agree he’s not ideal boyfriend/husband material. But he does go and sing old songs to elderly residents in care homes and that’s quite a nice thing to do. There’s a million things I can’t believe are popular. He’s not even on the scale.

MsHarry · 06/02/2018 15:18

He has 5 kids. 4 with first wife , 1 with second/current wife.

Yambabe · 06/02/2018 15:43

Holy crap OP if everyone who has ever cheated or been in a failed relationship had to leave their job over it the unemployment figures would be HUGE!

Being a bellend doesn't prevent someone from being good at their job. Being a successful comedian with a likeable on-stage persona doesn't mean they won't also be a bellend in real life.

I like his humour. His personal life is none of my business.

He can keep the bloody singing though.......

MsHarry · 06/02/2018 16:38

Stories are not necessarily truths OP.

PiffIeandWiffle · 06/02/2018 16:49

I find him amusing whenever he pops up on TV. Give absolutely no shits about his private life - got nothing to do with whether I find him funny or not.

I'm always amazed that people care about such inconsequential shit TBH.....

scrabbler3 · 06/02/2018 16:49

I saw him in a drama series where he played a car salesman who pretended his wife had died. He was pretty good in that, but its title escapes me now. I also like him on panel shows, and I enjoy his tales about how Corrie fans sometimes think he's the actor who plays Tyrone. I'm not interested in his private life insofar as he's not a law-breaker - I do recognise that his online behaviour has been appalling at times but that's a matter for him and his gf.

PiffIeandWiffle · 06/02/2018 16:50

In what way is Katherine Ryan offensive

She can sail very close to the edge & is very cutting - love her to bits though!!!

LucilleBluth · 06/02/2018 16:56

He's doing stand up in our little market town and I got Black Friday tickets to see him for £12. It's not until March, he my be shit but an evening of so so comedy and a few cocktails without having to get the train to London will do me for £24 😀
