... to be miffed that dh used the sink to vomit in rather than the toilet

Dh was taken ill in the night - possibly food poisoning, needed to vomit twice.

Don't get me wrong I was sympathetic at the time and this morning told him not to worry I'd bleach the loo, give the toilet a wipe down with antiseptic etc ..... but then he tells me the sink might need the same treatment because the first time he was sick he used the sink.

Why would you do that? When there is a perfectly good toilet? Stupid - right?

Am I the only shower puker? I hate throwing up into a toilet, don't seem to be able to stand up and throw up into a sink, but if I really have to be sick, I usually get into the shower and turn the water on to me whilst I'm throwing up.

Rarotonga · 18/10/2017 13:38

When I've vomited suddenly and unexpectedly I've gone to whatever is closest - sink or toilet. Better than the carpet!

PinkyBlunder · 18/10/2017 13:38

I'm having an HG pregnancy. Oh all the places I have puked/puked in to..... my DH often ends up clearing up after me too as cleaning it up often sets off another round of puking. Furthermore, sometimes before it starts it's like I'm paralysed and have no choice but to do it right there and since brushing my teeth can set it off, the sink has been used plenty! So I can see how YABU.

However, he's U for going to work and leaving a mess for you

EvilDoctorBallerinaVampireDuck · 18/10/2017 13:52

I should be clear that it was the kitchen sink and I was on the wrong floor for the toilet.

Ceto · 18/10/2017 14:04

How does that work, Midnite? Do you get undressed before getting into the shower, or do you just get everything wet?

Ceto · 18/10/2017 14:04

In fact, doesn't puking in the shower mean you have vomit swilling round your feet?

PsychoPumpkin · 18/10/2017 14:09

Tinklylittlelaugh

Since my daughter was born i’ve Been sick only a handful of times but it always seems to be both ends so I do need a receptacle in the bathroom, especially as the sink is in another room.

We have a carpeted loo so I wouldn’t fancy cleaning that up.

PuppyMonkey · 18/10/2017 14:12

Well, he's definitely a twat for going to work and potentially passing on a bug. His colleagues and/or clients will be delighted I'm sure. Confused

I'd let the puking in the sink thing go just this once. The shower is another matter. Envy

Littlebatcalledlucille · 18/10/2017 14:14

You think that's bad Blush I've just been sick twice in the kitchen bin there we're no option's (the sink was closer) luckily there was no bin liner in it, I've laced it with bleach and threw it in the garden!
Take that!!!! For grim.Blush

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 18/10/2017 14:20

When we were tiny my mum used to pay us £1 (big money then) every time we puked in the toilet and no other place. It worked really well and we have all grown up to be toilet puckers only.

NikiBabe · 18/10/2017 14:22

If you have dc i bet he dealt with you shitting, puking, bleeding, water breaking, etc. Bet he didnt throw it in your face.

You sound very nasty.

He is sick. Rational thought goes out the window.

DesignedForLife · 18/10/2017 14:28

Needs must sometimes. I hate puking in the loo, it gets everywhere and makes me feel more sick, but I always keep a plastic bucket in the bathroom for kids toys so that's what I use. I had terrible morning sickness and sometimes throw up suddenly because of asthma, and tbh the sink is preferable to the floor.

hmcAsWas · 18/10/2017 14:30

"You sound very nasty. " - Perhaps you should look in the mirror NikiBabe

I always throw up in the sink I can't stand the thought of my head near the toilet . It's absolutely fine to do it in the sink so I don't see what your problem is tbh ??

user1497199406 · 18/10/2017 15:02

As others have said, anywhere is better than the bed/carpet!

Your DH, however, is BVU for going to work! Hope no one else catches it, especially you Flowers

Ceto · 18/10/2017 16:02

I still hold against DH that time he didn't make it to the loo and puked on the carpet because he stopped to put his slippers on. He seemed to think it was completely outrageous of me to expect him to run to the bathroom barefoot. I made him clean it all up, because I was pregnant and the smell alone made me want to throw up. But I made it to the loo every time, even the day I was sick 17 times.

Ttbb · 18/10/2017 16:04

He may have not had time-bust into the math room with his mouth already full of vomit and more of the way up,

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 18/10/2017 18:03

If I'm going to be sick I always use the sink. Reason being is that I'd rather be able to stand up and rest my arms on something I feel is cleaner than the toilet bowl rim, and I really don't like having my face so close to where people pee and poo (even if the loo seems clean). Just imagine the splash back! RE sick chunks blocking the pipes...sink plungers are brilliant for that sort of thing Wink

Scholes34 · 18/10/2017 18:11

There's a lot more goes down the loo than chunks of sick, so blocking the pipes is a non issue.

Better to use the sink that the radiator in the hallway, which DS2 did once!

chipsandpeas · 18/10/2017 19:12

god last time i was sick i threw up in the bath as it was easier than the toilet

Ceto · 19/10/2017 00:47

The massive advantage of the loo for throwing up in is that you can get rid of the vomit so quickly and easily. When I feel ill it will only make me feel considerably worse having to stand there swilling down chunks of sick and trying to force it down with a plunger.

Telstar99 · 19/10/2017 00:57

@hmcAsWas

Not great no, but when I have had a bad tummy bug/pukey vommy bug, I have vommed on the bathroom floor, on the bedroom floor (carpeted!) and on my own fecking pillow!

So YABU. Sorry. Blush He probably couldn't help where he was being sick!

Did you manage to get all the chunks down the handbasin plughole by the way? Grin

The loo isn't that great really (although it is better than the sink obvs!) because it makes you feel worse, as you know someone's arse has been in there having a shit earlier that day!

Whenever anyone in our house has been sick, we used a bowl.

(Not the same one we use normally; just the vom bowl out of the garage.)

This sounded a lot better in my head.......... Blush

Telstar99 · 19/10/2017 00:58

The reason why (by the way) that I vommed on my pillow and the floor, is because I was so dizzy and disoriented by the virus that I didn't know where I was, and kept passing out for 10 to 20 seconds at a time. So I couldn't help it.

melj1213 · 19/10/2017 02:46

Generally if I'm going to puke I aim for the toilet but we have cats so I have to leave the lid down (one of them likes to sit on the cistern and pounce on her sister and after one two many occasions when she fell in we have instigated a firm "lid closed at all times unless in use" policy) and if you're caught unawares sometimes you don't have time to lift the lid and so if it's a case of puke in the sink or all over the loo/floor, I'd prefer it to be in the sink.

If there is prior warning then it's easy to get to the loo and puke in there as it is an easier target (it's low down so just lean over and let gravity do the work) and clean up is as easy as pressing the flush, but sometimes if you get caught unaware or are rushing to the bathroom mid-puke then the sink is better than nothing for a one off.

Broken11Girl · 19/10/2017 03:14

Team sink, throwing up in the toilet is gross as pps said, makes me feel worse, splashbacks Envy
