Few years ago dp bought me one of those electronic toning belt things ( for my birthday)because "you said you need to tone and I know you don't like exercise" I took that as him telling me I'm lazy and fat. I attached it to him and put it on full whack while he was sleeping. Yanbu

Our vacuum cleaner packed up the other day. I went out to buy a new one as we are in the midst of decorating so really needed a replacement. Before I left DH suggested I get one of those cordless upright Dyson ones. I looked at him like this Hmm and said "do you know how much they cost?!" (we are a it skint due to aforementioned decorating).

Anyhow, at Currys I was presented with a frankly baffling array of different types of vacuum cleaner, but lo and behold there was a Vax version of the Dyson, for less than half the price. It is the same spec except that it vacuums for 45 minutes before it needs a re-charge whereas the Dyson of similar spec only did 30 mins.

So I bought that. Took about 5 minutes all in.

When I got home I (pretend) sheepishly said "I took your advice, I think you are right that we need one of these. It was cheaper than a Dyson so I saved money!"

He can't stop using it Grin and I don't think I will ever need to clean floors again! Best purchase ever! I had a play with it when he was out, and it is bloody brilliant, but I am not going to take the pleasure of his new gadget away from him.

Well I suppose we all need a hobby Grin

I like the sound of your Mum.

by way of revenge, I cooked it and made him eat it

Perfect Grin

Cracklesfire · 17/10/2017 17:13

It's only a present if he's going to mop while you drink wine and watch.

strongasmeringue · 17/10/2017 17:24

My birthday present, the month before I gave birth to dh first child, was a food processor. It was a very nice one and I did get a small tube of Pringles and a chunky Kit Kat as well but I was thinking I'd get treat things, what with it being my last birthday just as his wife. He knows now how I feel.

ZippyCameBack · 17/10/2017 17:25

My husband is notoriously bad at present buying. When we got engaged he gave me a pair of pigs. Actual, massive, snorting, fence-wrecking pigs. Very romantic!
After years of really naff presents/household appliances, I made a succinct point with his next present. I gave him a pair of castration pliers. Things improved after that, but not much!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 17/10/2017 17:25

Dh once bought me a pile of computer games and a vegetarian cookbook. Once.

oldlaundbooth · 17/10/2017 17:25

Brilliant.

You're mop, he's bucket.

AllMumsyWereTheBorrowedClothes · 17/10/2017 17:29

Many moons ago, when DD2 was born, DH possibly having realised, for the first time, that a present would be nice after all the effort etc, got me a clock radio to replace the perfectly good one I already had. The only difference was the new one has green numbers and the old one had red, which presumably bothered him - though thinking about it - he's colour blind - so who knows Confused
I think he'd forgotten just how much use an alarm was to a woman breastfeeding on demand Grin it was worth the money though, as it's still working fine 2 decades later.

Elendon · 17/10/2017 17:32

I need a new mop.

Thanks for the reminder.

hold the wind in and let rip tonight under the duvet, then tell him it's a present

LakieLady · 17/10/2017 17:36

Pmsl at the quinoa.

I'd love a pair of pigs though, especially if they were Mangalitzas or Gloucester Old Spots.

Floellabumbags · 17/10/2017 17:37

ZippyCameBack

The romance 😂😂😂

smallmercys · 17/10/2017 17:40

Perhaps it's like when you get a jiffy bag with car keys in and find your present is a new car? Maybe the mop means he'll be paying for a cleaner and you can get on with more important stuff?

Turquoise123 · 17/10/2017 17:41

how can that be a present ?

Christinayangstwistedsista · 17/10/2017 17:42

These are hilarious. My DH once brought me a drill bit from an oil rig.

travailtotravel · 17/10/2017 17:42

Bought a Karcher window steam thingy. Have not cleaned a window since. Dh loves It!!

Hassled · 17/10/2017 17:45

I once got a clearly very expensive set of water colour paints and a some sort of upmarket painting-by-numbers set from DH. I failed O Level Art and have never expressed any interest whatsoever in art. It still baffles me - presents before and since have been fine, so what was that random abberration about? I've tried to ask, but he doesn't seem to know either.

expectopatronumm · 17/10/2017 17:53

For my birthday, my husband once gifted me a printer. 🙄

silkpyjamasallday · 17/10/2017 17:55

DP is generally good for presents, but often tries to pass off treats he has bought for himself as a gift for me. Recently came back from a walk with DD with a very expensive jacket, which he said initially was just for me, then demonstrated that it fitted him too, perfectly in fact as it was a men's jacket in his size - from his favourite shop too which doesn't stock womenswear HmmAdmittedly sometimes I do wear men's things and I do generally buy them to be oversized, but he has worn the coat non stop since buying it even inside as I won't turn the heating on so I haven't got a look in.

heavenlypink · 17/10/2017 17:55

Maybe he's seen this

DP bought me a present...
RaeCJ82 · 17/10/2017 18:02

Red, nope not Swedish. I was baffled too. I don’t think I resemble a root vegetable either...!

Redsrule · 17/10/2017 18:23

My, much missed, late, DH bought me a tin of Nitromors for when I came home with our first DC . We were renovating a house at the time and he thought I might get bored having nothing to do whilst on Maternity leave. He was a GP!

OhBigHairyBollocks · 17/10/2017 20:33

DH bought me aftershave for my birthday

Granted, it was the same brand of perfume I asked for.. but the aftershave Grin
