Hopefully you can see the picture- if not, it's an advert for 'Skinnypigs fitness', it says 'Caution! Skinnypigs will make you look better naked!', plus an image of two yellow sort of stick-women, one larger, one slimmer, the slimmer one is posing in a bikini. This is literally metres from my kids' school. AIBU or is that totally gross?

OP,

Just out of interest, is your kids' school, which is right opposite (next to?) the ad, a primary or secondary?

Banderwassnatched · 16/10/2017 19:55

It's middle through to senior- from Year 5 right up to Year 13. It's a through school with Reception to Year 4 on a second site which is about 200 metres further away from this charming poster.

Irresponsible advertising. Complain.

lemony7 · 16/10/2017 20:42

Our nursery has a pet called skinny pig. It’s a guinea pig with no hair. It’s bloody horrible!

bigbluedustbin · 18/10/2017 04:08

It doesn’t even make sense. The bigger one is naked and the thinner one has clothes (bikini). Not that that’s the point but still, illogical.

TitaniasCloset · 18/10/2017 04:54

The big naked one looks exactly like me Sad

Why does only the skinny one get a bikini? Is that because she is so hot and sexy now they have to cover her bits up? But the other one is so gross wouldn't matter if she strolled about naked?

Does this mean I can go out naked too?

aaaaargghhhhelpme · 18/10/2017 07:16

I would actually take it to the asa. If it's in such close proximity to schools there are strict guidelines as to what can and can't be shown.

If I remember they didn't uphold the complaint against the bikini body one but you could argue that an advert on a tube is much more different to one outside a school

VilootShesCute · 18/10/2017 07:21

Grin at bald guinea pig

VilootShesCute · 18/10/2017 07:21

Oh and yadnbu

Knusper · 18/10/2017 07:34

YANBU. I wouldn't want that ad near a school either.

Going to check out that magazine though.

JonSnowsWife · 18/10/2017 07:54

I wouldn't like it near a school either.

DD has a lovely friend at her school who suffers from anorexia. I'm sure they aren't the only one but Imagine them walking by that board!

The whole diet and fitness industry is profit driven and a gimmick anyway. If they really cared about weight loss and fitness and rising obesity levels they'd offer their services for free.

BabsGanoush · 18/10/2017 07:55

nah, there are worst things to worry about.

WhatwouldAryado · 18/10/2017 08:06

It's crying out for some adjustments. Typical of the attitude of gyms though. But then if we were all happy with our looks and wanted to work on improving our fitness we'd realise 90% of the trainers haven't got a bloody clue.

Greyhorses · 18/10/2017 08:09

It's a gym class advert, wouldn't be much of an advert if the woman had stayed the same size would it?

Couldn't be bothered to get worked up about it myself.

CockacidalManiac · 18/10/2017 10:59

This seems to have turned into a social media meltdown by skinnypigs.

Yes. I would. You can complain to the Advertising Standards Association both about the content and the location of the ad.

JonSnowsWife · 18/10/2017 11:36

take less meth

Bet they dont say that whilst smiling and taking your DD details. Hmm

PinkHeart5914 · 18/10/2017 11:39

Skinny Pigs, why just why? Like I would be going to any gym that was called Skinny Pigs

Seriously though I do wonder if some companies do this type of stuff on purpose, I mean they get a lot of advertising with people tweeting/mumsnet etc moaning about it

JonSnowsWife · 18/10/2017 11:44

Imagine trying to portray yourself as a serious business whilst acting like a fucking petulant child.

In fact, I take that back, most children wouldn't be this immature either.

JonSnowsWife · 18/10/2017 11:45

PinkHeart they appear to actually be serious. Including currently accusing people disagreeing with them putting up near a school as bullying them.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 18/10/2017 11:47

"I bloody hate myself. And men. Grr."

kali110 · 18/10/2017 11:51

Doesn't bother me in the slightest, really can't get worked up about it.
Can't really blame the owner for being pissed at people having a go either.

CockacidalManiac · 18/10/2017 11:51

I’m hoping that skinnypigs have seriously damaged (or destroyed) their business by this. It’d be good to know that actions have consequences.

JonSnowsWife · 18/10/2017 11:52

TitianasCloset yes! Go for it! Grin
