AIBU to think that asking for continuous pictures after buying an animal is rude?

Have purchased a rabbit from a breeder. She's wonderful. The breeder has asked that each month to just send a picture. She didn't say I'm tied to that or anything, but that she'd really like it, it kind of makes me feel like I have to though.

AIBU to think it's a bit rude!?

I don't think she's honestly expecting a photo every month until the rabbit's death.

She probably means 'for a while/ for as long as you remember'

I think that's really lovely. My cat's breeder asked to be updated too, she loves getting photos of him. Sending a quick snap now and then won't hurt surely.

Why on earth do you think it's rude to make a polite request?

I could understand weird/odd/over invested etc, but 'rude'? Nope.

Personally I think it's nice she cares. I'd just make a 'thing' of it 'Come on Boris where shall we take your photo this month?' It's going to take you two minutes to snap a photo & send it with a 'Hey Betty, I'm having a great time, Love Boris'

Do you use instagram and put pictures of your pets on there? Invite her to follow you if she wants to see pics.

It's a bit over invested. I have shared pictures of the dog with the rehoming centre he came from but that's to help them promote their very valuable work so that hopefully other abandoned dogs can find homes.

All of our puppy buyers are told they can email/ring/fb us anytime if they have questions. That yes we do love to see photos as they get older but it's not a demand thy can contact us as much or as little as they want. We even holiday board some of our pups. All we really honestly want to know is where and who our dogs end up with and that they are loved so we ask for first refusal should they need to rehome but obviously not everybody will want to make us aware. Most of the people who have brought a pup from us decide of their own will to add us on fb mainly because we post every single day from the birth about the pups with photos/weight updates and our worming and feeding schedule/playing videos/interaction with children videos etc and they watch them grow from day one.

Do you think she's checking up on you by asking for a rabbit photo update?

I update on our Rescue guinea-pigs (not photos just a message)

One of my rescues came from a breeder who "didn't like guinea-pigs" (I don't know if the breeder surrendered them or had them seized) but its breeders like that who don't give a shit but will hold their hand out for £20/£30 who give all breeders a bad name Sad

I think it's brilliant. I volunteer in animal rescue and all too often you find people who try to adopt an animal only to palm them off later to someone else. For them it's worse because it's in the adoption contract if they can't care for the pet to come back to the rescue and it will be rehomed with proper checks etc.

I love it when I get updates about animals I've transported/fostered. And also my family who all have adopted animals from the rescue send regular photos back in.

I'm also currently part of an ongoing court case against a woman who was adopting from rescues (not the main ones I help but I'm a witness for other reasons) and reselling. The good rescues cared, the shit ones (people playing rescue) didn't so it's good to see a breeder taking similar interest in their animals :) it shows they care and therefore are probably an ethical breeder.

My dog's breeder has an FB group for anyone who has dogs from her and it's fantastic. Very easy to update everyone and great to see his mum and litter mates.

I've always updated people I have had animals fro. As long as they have replied to my emails I've kept it up the whole of an animal's life.
