Hi

Been in Blackpool today. Really wanted to get my fortune told but didn’t.

Has anyone ever been to a fortune teller on the pier or the main walk and they have been any good?

Curiosity as going again in a couple of weeks

Many years ago we went to see Gypsy Petulengro . She said I would be moving to live by the sea . I had no.plans at the time but a few months later I bought a business in Blackpool. DH went in alone and when he came out he looked quite shocked. The fortune teller had mentioned his two babies (previous marriage) that had died at a few days old.

CreepyPasta · 14/10/2017 21:22

Yes, then my friend went in straight afterwards and was told exactly the same as I was.

We renamed her Madame Bullshit

I went to one on the south pier I think it was with my best mate about 6 years ago for a giggle. We had had been out and had a few drinks and thought why not. Some of it was obvious rubbish but I can’t deny she got some things right.

I was single at the time just got out of a long relationship (obvious from the indent of a missing engagement ring). But she said I’d meet someone in orange in September of that year and that would be the man I married. I did meet someone in orange in September of that year and we are now married and expecting our first child. Now call it guess work or whatever but that’s creepy.

But I’d go back - not for the future woo stuff but just because it was a good giggle!

There used to be one that closed very suddenly due to "unforeseen circumstances" on the prom. Grin

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/10/2017 00:32

I'll tell yours.

You seem confident to others but secretly feel inadequate.

There's a very important man in your life who will be a great influence.
I'm seeing a name, starts with a J or G... they are watching over you.

And several more that apply to most people. Then you remember the relevant ones, edit out the ones that don't apply, a good fortune teller will judge your body language and ditch the ones you frown at.

oldlaundbooth · 15/10/2017 00:35

Me and a mate went for a laugh when we were 14. Dolled up in Blackpool etc

She said we'd get talking to some young men that day - she was right Grin

oldlaundbooth · 15/10/2017 00:36

Oh god MJD is back!

GrockleBocs · 15/10/2017 00:37

There's an important woman in your life who has passed on. She's worried about you.

GrockleBocs · 15/10/2017 00:38

I didn't foresee that troublesome event old :(

AnneGrommit · 15/10/2017 00:40

Grin MrsTerry

Read Beyond Black - goes through all that, also how:

You're the one always taking care of others and have no time for yourself

You've had a niggling health worry for some time now - go to the doctor

Etc

Bunnyhipsdontliegrl · 15/10/2017 00:40

I didn't think you could sound more pedantic than signing every post but somehow with your little quote, you did!

Sandgrown

Petulengro is the spanish Gypsy name that was changed to Smith to fit in with locals.
The family include Gypsy Rose Lee, the fortune teller not Burlesque dancer.
She happens to be one of my ancestors.
True Romany family, whether you believe what they say or not is another matter.

MartinJD · 15/10/2017 01:02

All poppycock and balderdash!

Cheers,
MJD

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/10/2017 01:03

Your name appears above your post.

All the best

MartinJD · 15/10/2017 01:11

An astute observation from Mrs Pratchett!

Cheers,
MJD

AnneGrommit · 15/10/2017 01:14

Well, this is fun.

MrsHathaway · 15/10/2017 01:19

Well, this is fun.

YMMV

Going to a medium for a giggle is as fun as pushing 2p pieces into a machine on the pier: if it entertains you for a while and you can afford It, great. But don't go if you need to: if you're grieving or otherwise vulnerable. Only ever gamble what you can afford to lose, whether that's a fiver in the arcade, or your sense of humour in the gypsy's palace.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 15/10/2017 01:24

Ask her the winning lottery numbers of the next draw, and that you'll give her half the money.
Bet she can't tell you

GrockleBocs · 15/10/2017 01:25

When somebody tells you who they are.
And repeats it with salutations.
Listen
Run.

BriechonCheese · 15/10/2017 02:04

Martin, can you tell us simply why you feel the need to sign off posts in such a way? Or indeed in any manner? It's truly baffling.

It’s because he's an arsehole, Briechon.

Now that’s what I call psychic ability!

MartinJD · 15/10/2017 02:27

BriechonCheese: One does one's best to converse in civility.

Best,
MJD
