OK, share things that "everyone RAVES about" but when you tried it/went there/ate it etc it left you properly underwhelmed and you've almost ashamed to admit it. Don't need to give details or reasons, just name THE THING
I'll start........

Australia

Eurodisney. So so shit. Snow White smoking around the back of a ride was a highlight. Might as well just empty your wallet at the gate too as it's ridiculously expensive. Hated it.

A single issue obsessive continues:

They were absolutely not just a boy band!

  1. They were instrumentalists as well as vocalists. They weren't chosen for their looks, they were there because they were talented.
  2. Three of them were amongst the best songwriters of the 20th century. (Sorry, Ringo, you weren't.)
  3. They worked closely with their producer to get the sound they wanted.
  4. They were the first group to adopt this model. Before them, singers/instrumentalists were given material by their management, and had little say over the production. They changed the industry for everyone else.
  5. They were working class lads making good. They were a sign of hope in that respect, in a way that 50 years later we have forgotten, given that social mobility is now significantly worse than it was in the 50s and 60s.
  6. They went to the US and led the way for other British bands to go over there and achieve success, at a time when US culture was spreading all over the world and elbowing out the native talent.
  7. They introduced young people all over the Western world to new ideas like meditation, Buddhism, sitar music. They opened minds.
  8. They set up their own production company, which again was a new thing for a pop group to do.
  9. They didn't doff their caps to the upper classes. They had attitude. Lennon sent back his MBE because of British support for the Vietnam war.
AuntieRoberta · 14/10/2017 22:47

Paris.

I had high expectations, but for me, most disappointing place I have ever visited. I even revisited it a couple of years later - same reaction.

Catra · 14/10/2017 22:51

Posting again to agree with a few more -

Robbie Williams (Mediocre voice and a class A twat)
Chocolate (I mean, I don't mind it, but I can think of umpteen more irresistable foods ie: cheese in all its glorious forms)
Cars (It baffles me why people would want to spend more money on them than is absolutely necessary - they get you from A to B, big deal!)
Pets (the noise, the smell, the time commitment, the vets bills, the chaos they wreak around the home. Unpopular opinion I know, but I get all the affection and unconditional love I need from humans without feeling the need to domesticate / trap an animal for my own benefit)

PolkaDottyRose · 14/10/2017 22:54
