A burning itchy vagina from hell?! Every single time. Period comes to an end, itchy burning sensation start and is so bad I want to scratch my vagina off. I use tampons for a few days then pads. Considering trying a cup again. Anyone else?

It can be caused by hormonal fluctuations caused by your period.

FastWindow · 11/10/2017 23:00

I get flare ups of what they call BV. Used to be prettily named Gardnerella. I keep a supply of a gel tube with a terrible, long add-on applicator... It works but oh the indignity.

hibbledobble · 11/10/2017 23:12

Another vote for trying reusable pads. You may well be reacting to the pads

StumpyScot92 · 11/10/2017 23:19

I used to get asymptomatic cyclical thrush. Basically without the discharge but with the intense itching and skin splits. I was the opposite in that it was usually pre period for me but it can happen any time of the month. I was prescribed tablets to take before my period each month.

I'm currently 7 months pregnant and pregnancy seems to have cured me further confirming it's been the hormonal changes each month. Try different sanpro first but it's worth baring in mind 😊

Believeitornot · 11/10/2017 23:20

It's the pads and tampons.

They kind of make everything throb. It's horrific.

Agoddessonamountaintop · 11/10/2017 23:25

It probably is pads, but this never happened to me before the invention of the ultra--thin, ultra-absorbent, with plastic mesh surface types (am old gimmer). Natracare and some own-brand types are best - no excessive 'wicking' effect or irritating plastic.

blackheartsgirl · 11/10/2017 23:26

Yes I used too. I just put it down to the irritation of the pads. Didn’t occur to me that it could be hormonal too

Winterbeaches · 11/10/2017 23:31

I get a twitchy, painful, achy feeling like I really need to pee, but not exactly that either. A bit UTI like. it never comes to much and goes away if I drink a pint of water and clap a hot water bottle to my actual fanny. awkward if it happens in work, makes it hard to sit and I usually have to walk around a bit

HPD76 · 11/10/2017 23:48

I’ve got this right now. It’s so red and sore, it’s like it’s chapped. Only just started happening in the last few months, since I switched to those skinny plastic sanitary towels. I’m now a week post period and it’s so sore.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 12/10/2017 00:01

I find the slight swelling caused by hormones during my period doesn’t help. Combined with the itching and general discomfort I’ve often wanted to disown my reproductive system completely.

meltingmarshmallows · 12/10/2017 00:22

Tampons do this for me if it’s been a particularly ... Dry? Period. Sometimes it just feels dry down there & the tampon feels horribly uncomfortable. Afterwards I’ll get the itching for days so switch to pads when I feel it happening.

Intomyarms · 12/10/2017 00:36

Yes I get this.

I think its a reaction to the plastic backing or chaffing. It happens regardless of what pads I use.

keepcalmandfuckon · 12/10/2017 00:41

This happens to me depending on whether I’ve cut the grass. If I don’t keep it very short then I sweat and get very itchy with a pad.

sadiemm2 · 12/10/2017 00:42

I've started using sponges and washable pads because of this s exactly. Yes, it makes me a bit of a hippy, but better than a chapped faloolah. I've got a cup, but it's my uterus is tipped, so I can't always use it

Maverick66 · 12/10/2017 00:46

I associate this with perimenopause. Started when I was 38.

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 30/10/2017 19:30

I get this too ... I also have Lichen Schlerosus.

AccidentalyRunToWindsor · 30/10/2017 19:38

Yes! I have this, I thought I was the only one.

Am off to RTFT to see what magical cure I can have.

Silversun83 · 30/10/2017 20:34

I often get a slightly sore uncomfortable feeling (but inside) and in my case believe it's down to the change in PH that the bleeding causes. I usually use multi-gyn actigel for a few days afterwards and that usually works by restoring the PH balance.?
