A burning itchy vagina from hell?! Every single time. Period comes to an end, itchy burning sensation start and is so bad I want to scratch my vagina off. I use tampons for a few days then pads. Considering trying a cup again. Anyone else?

I had this till I swapped to reusable pads and boots own pads. Itch free fanny.

pandorawithtreaclecolouredhair · 11/10/2017 20:49

Canesfresh soothing wash gel might help.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 11/10/2017 20:50

Try using coconut oil during your period and for a couple of days after. It's not greasy and it gives you a barrier between your skin & anything irritating it. I have a hormonal issue and get very itchy. The only good thing about getting my period is that the itching stops! It's been much better since I discovered how much the coconut oil helps.

Expemsiveuniform · 11/10/2017 20:53

I do but before not after.

NobodyKnowsTiddlyPom · 11/10/2017 20:53

I used to back when I had periods and used disposable pads (am on the pill to treat v heavy periods now so don't have them anymore). I switched to reusable pads and found them so much better for my nether regions. I went for the most pimped up ones I could get, can't remember the brand but they were from the US. They've got Zorb (or something along the lines of that name) in the core and are very absorbent. I had ones that felt a bit like wearing a nappy for night time use and never had a leak, despite my massively heavy periods.

Ooh, I get this. I currently use tampons or unscented sanitary pads (very un-MN and not great for the environment, I know). I've just had a look at some reusable pads but the product info says wash at 20-30C. My washing machine doesn't go below 40C (again with the environment! Blush but we rent so I'm stuck with it). Does anyone else wash theirs at 40C? Does it "set" the blood stains?

You may have more success with a different brand of menstrual cup. My Mooncup leaked all the time but I have no leaks with a Super Jennie. The feminine wear Facebook group is good for info and advice.

squiz81 · 11/10/2017 21:06

I do too. I blamed scented liners and have swapped to natracare ones and make sure i change really regularly. I have noticed an improvement. I think i will look in to reusable ones too!

AnInchWasPinched · 11/10/2017 21:08

It's probably the pads. Changed brand, not had it since.

MarthaArthur · 11/10/2017 21:09

Yes get it every time. Its pad rubbing so itchy and hot. :( use canisten for day or 2 and fine again

dudsville · 11/10/2017 21:10

I used to use tampons and would occasionally get something like but not as bad as you described. I have used only pads for years and no problem. I assumed it was the tampons.

spacewitch99 · 11/10/2017 21:20

I had this. For years.
Turns out I have a condition called Lichen Schlerosus. Please look it up and check if you have any other symptoms. I wish I had sooner. I now have flattened labia and my clitoris is eroded. Horrific condition.

Subtlecheese · 11/10/2017 21:29

For me this happens sometimes but it is also a side effect of the hormones in the ducking implant for me. Yes. Everyday. I am currently giving it a month before giving up

Hohofortherobbers · 11/10/2017 21:33

Yes, have been having this for the last year or so. Use tampons, I use caneston for a day and it sorts it out

Bumdishcloths · 11/10/2017 21:36

@GilligansKitchenIsland I wash mine at 40, no fabric softener. Quick cold rinse before they go in the laundry basket stops anything setting

Heckneck · 11/10/2017 21:38

Thanks for your replies ladies.

Invest in a mooncup. It's likely the bleach in pads and tampons is irritating you as well as the general roughness of the items. Mooncups are smooth with no product to leech into your delicate tissue.

Expemsiveuniform · 11/10/2017 21:42

I can’t use a mooncup I have a prolapse. 😥

WellTidy · 11/10/2017 21:42

I was dreading the post birth experience when I was pregnant with DC2 as I knew, having had DC1, that this was coming. It's the bloody pads. All disposable pads, scented or not. They make me sweat and itch like mad. It drove me nuts. I have only ever used tampons since my second ever period, so I don't have to contend with this every month, thankfully.

WyfOfBathe · 11/10/2017 21:42

I do get itchy straight after my period, but it's not burning or intolerable. I find that regular baths (no bubble bath) during my period helps.

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 11/10/2017 22:05

Just to clarify, OP, when you say "vagina" do you mean the inside (the vagina) or the outside flappy bits (your vulva)? That would surely make a difference to what could be wrong.

Heckneck · 11/10/2017 22:08

The outside. Sorry v

HemanOrSheRa · 11/10/2017 22:30

I get vulval itching after my period and I also get it for a couple of days mid cycle. I'm pretty sure it's hormonal and another joyous symptom to add to peri menopause as I use a meluna cup and washable pads.

cremedelashite · 11/10/2017 22:52

I had this and realised it was Boots own tampons causing it
