To ask when it will be safe to watch Coronation Street again?

When will the awful kidnap story be over? And that Kylie nonsense be finished? I generally love Corrie but these stories have nearly tipped me over the edge.

When will it be safe to tune back in?

Wait. What's going on with Billy?

Alibobbob · 11/10/2017 16:34

Corrie is on my tv now - Hilda, Mavis, Jack & Vera, Brian Tilsley et all. Far more entertaining. Sally's just telling Kev (with a moustache and a mullet) that she doesn't want to go out with him that night.

MusicToMyEars800 · 11/10/2017 16:36

It is only going to get worse with Billy.

Mittens1969 · 11/10/2017 16:37

I agree where the cellar storyline is concerned. Phelan is getting ridiculous, he wants to put Daniel in there now! It’s starting to be like Richard What’s-his-name? and John Snape all over again. It needs to stop, Corrie!

I did like the Bethany storyline though.

Hufflepuff719 · 11/10/2017 16:39
  1. I find corro very flow and feel that storylines are dragged out. We didn't hear the Bethany court verdict for months and months.

Emmerdale storylines seem to much shorter and betterWink

PhelanGood · 11/10/2017 16:42

@bluelonerose what have I ever done to you?! 😉

Despite my username I'm inclined to agree with op. I have stopped watching for years before and will do the same if corrie carries on along this vein. The Phelan /Andy storyline is the only one I'm bothered about seeing through to the end actually and I like that Daniel's onto him. Both are complex characters, with an edge of psychoticness, looking forward to seeing who comes out on top! And to seeing if Andy escapes.

Generally though I'm sick of character consistency being sacrificed in the name of sensationalism. It's stopping me caring about anyone much..

Tbf Billy knows that Adam is behind the factory heist that put the workers out of a job, so he felt that he was giving them their own money back from Adams ill gotten gains. When he found out it was Shona's money he was mortified.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3041014--to-think-Coronation-Street-is-beyond-ridiculous-SPOILER-ALERT is my opinion! I wrote a whole rant on it a few weeks ago!

What's going on with Kylie? I am out of the loop, she was dead last time I watched, is she not anymore?

Katedotness1963 · 11/10/2017 18:34

Kylie's back? Didn't she get run over? Who was buried under Gail's bedroom? Can't believe the vile Phelan is still in it! Another reason not to watch.

Katedotness1963 · 11/10/2017 18:38

I thought Emily was coming back, was thinking of watching again, doesn't sound worthwhile anymore.

Is the old lady cheating Norris still in it? Shows up with nothing, now has Emily's house and Rita's business, right?

MusicToMyEars800 · 11/10/2017 18:39

Kylie got stabbed by Clayton ( Shona's son )
It was Callum who was buried under Gail's annexe, Kylie killed him because he was attacking Sarah, They all framed Tony ( Jason's dad, who died ) for it.

Katedotness1963 · 11/10/2017 18:42

Thank you Music, it's been a while but I remember those bits now. Well, read it on Digital Spy...

EdithWeston · 11/10/2017 18:42

Never liked Phelan. Couldn’t believe it when they brought him back.

But apparently the makers think the viewers love watching him.

And I am fed up with the overlapping musical beds (Peter Leanne Nick Carla Robert Tracey Toyah Steve)

And how once strong characters are now utterly vacuous,

Though actually I don’t mind Rosie as I see her as light relief.

Norris and Mary are about the only ones worth watching

saltandvinegarcrisps1 · 11/10/2017 18:45

Corrie 's going a but eastenders- emmerdale at the moment for me. Ok storylines ridiculous but you get a laugh too

MusicToMyEars800 · 11/10/2017 18:45

Kate I watch Soaps on and off, Usually get enticed by a good looking storyline, watch it, then the soap goes back to being rubbish and I don't watch as much Grin

MusicToMyEars800 · 11/10/2017 18:47

EastEnders is the only one I haven't gone back to watching, I find it so depressing and boring and don't really like any of the characters.
The last time I watched was when it was the 'Who killed Lucy' storyline Grin

Arealhumanbeing · 11/10/2017 18:56

Carla is coming back! I saw pictures of her shooting her first scenes.

Bet that’ll complicate Toyah’s life! Wink

MusicToMyEars800 · 11/10/2017 19:00

Areal I know Grin Also Gary is going to be killed in a car crash in Ukraine.
Summer is going to smoke spice and collapse, leading to Billy attacking Peter, cause he blames Simon.
Rana is going to get drunk and smooch Kate.

Mittens1969 · 11/10/2017 19:31

I’m also fed up with Eileen being so completely gullible and not seeing through Phelan. It’s too out of character imo.

MusicToMyEars800 · 11/10/2017 19:41

Mittens I agree with you, She just takes his word as gospel, Even when it's blatantly obvious he is lying.

yawning801 · 12/10/2017 07:40

I think the last storyline I found vaguely interesting was the Lesley Kershaw Dementia storyline in 2011! I also can't stand Eva, mainly because her laugh sounds like a drunk horse crossed with a chicken on crack!

ShatnersWig · 12/10/2017 08:09

Katedot Oddly enough, I stopped watching when Emily left. I thought at the time she wouldn't be coming back. Eileen Derbyshire is notoriously private and she wouldn't have wanted a big exit or announcement. Part of me felt they could have come up with something slightly better for her as the longest serving female actor on the show. Emily was the moral compass of the street, along with perhaps Roy.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 12/10/2017 10:05

Emily also did all the childminding and baby sitting for free and at ridiculously short notice so probably left a lot of the parents in a pickle.
